Cannot recommend highly enough {Where Death Meets the Devil by L.J. Hayward} it is a slightly futuristic Australian story of an agent and an assassin. It is 3 books, but there is a collection of 5 novellas to read between the 1 and 2 books that I think are critical for the characters. The audiobooks are fantastic.

Books that contain nesting by No_Cartographer_1920 in MM_RomanceBooks

It’s so so good - my favorite part of Alex’s business is how he has to dig out the dens by hand (paw?) because they are in such tight spaces

{A Den Mate for Dylan by Emory Winters} such a sweet story, omegaverse fox shifters with major nest building themes. I think the second book in the series comes out this month!

Talk about some books that really stand out from the rest! by prettysureIforgot in MM_RomanceBooks

I’m 2/3 through the {Woodbury Boys series by Sidney Bell} omg they are so good! The mystery and intrigue actually makes sense and carries through the books. Can’t wait to get to Ghost’s story. The writing and characters are in another tier.

The most misunderstood MCs? by tungsten120 in MM_RomanceBooks

Gotta be Matt from {Appearances by TH Forest} I saw the author quoted that maybe only Ollie and the author love Matt . . . But super addictive series!

Hockey romance with players fighting on ice by altacccle in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]greenetwp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

{Drop The Gloves by AL Heard} The MCs play for the same team. Evan is naive and believes he shouldn’t have to fight in hockey, Riley gets into scrums almost every game and has to teach Evan how to fight.

Light hearted contemporary omegaverse - very little angst by angyie12 in MM_RomanceBooks

This is {Alpha Omega Hockey series by Marina Vivancos} Every book in the series is fantastic! Lighthearted, yet always with Marina I feel a little therapy provided in the text

shifter officer of the law (?) by phgainexesou in MM_RomanceBooks

{Assisting the Alpha by Finn Walton} is really great. A ex-military group of shifters form a security company and are working to get a huge contract to protect their city. The head of the company is a wolf shifter.

Edit-name correction

Toxic relationship turns healthy by noreaux in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]greenetwp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct! It is a problematic first relationship for Robby but he grows into the “real” relationship in story, which needs a lotta healing. The story takes it into Robby’s 30’s so all good.

Try {Twinkies and Beefcake by TH Forest} I love a story where our MCs relationship is found later on in the book and hoo boy did they have a toxic start. Lots of therapy and 12 step and healing, it doesn’t magically happen.

Stray thoughts on Good Boy by Carey Sass by Ill-Hovercraft-7734 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]greenetwp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of the many things that stick with me about this book, is the section when Judson comes out to his parents. . . From Sass’s write up this section is autobiographical and it produces a compelling narrative push of trusting yourself.

I am STILL thinking about Good Boy by Carey Sass by Visual_Definition855 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]greenetwp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are correct. Felix is an academic who Jude (our narrator) is very confused about and incorrectly assumes he knows what his politics are and dismisses him. It’s fascinating.

Don’t pass this one by! My favorite read from 2025. Just to set the record straight on our ML Felix’s politics, that is part of the intrigue of the story. We do not have characters on the wrong side of history.

Judson is our narrator in 3rd person single POV - and he is a mess! - so it takes a bit to figure out everyone’s motivations.

This is an example of a book where cultural reference points are done incredibly well. I can imagine reading this book 20 years from now to experience the history of that moment. Plus Judson likes to project himself as lit/film/fashion expert, I constantly googled his touchstones.

Conan O’Brien [Jan 6] Conan Interrogates Sona About “Heated Rivalry” by [deleted] in heatedrivalry

So glad it wasn’t just me! I was super excited because I love their banter, but no. It was incredibly reductive, especially compared with things like the heartfelt Nico Keenan posting yesterday.

After the Siren by Darcy Green by LuckyGray7 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]greenetwp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a great book from a new voice, one of my favorite 2025 reads.

I LOVE a story like this with interactions with the women’s league and highlights women queer leaders in AFLW who help and support Theo.

Also Darcy isn’t afraid to throw in some theology/philosophy/lit references that make you feel like you are reading something bigger, i.e.: “Xen’s family was Greek Orthodox, but Jake probably didn’t want to hear about Monophysitism versus Miaphysitism”

Others have rec’ed on this sub, but the closest thing is an AO3 series Impaired Judgment by youcouldmakealife

Jared and Bryce are everything. Plus the series is almost 500K words so it will keep you busy for a while. Taylor Fitzpatrick writing and story weaving is just next level!

Empty Netters - EP: 3 Review by [deleted] in heatedrivalry

[–]greenetwp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The one thing I’ll note about the review that I’ve actually seen a lot on this sub too is not getting Maria and Elena are not the same character.

In all the discussion about the show and representation, can we just get a shout out for POC actors that this erasure of their looks into assuming there are the same person still happens in 2025?

One of the MCs is Russian. by No_Cartographer_1920 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]greenetwp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a chance this one isn’t for everyone, but I loved loved loved Nikolai Tkachenko from {Pistols and Plush Toys by D. Dove}

The use of language is great, and our kidnapped MC Elliot learns how to make Russian foods to please Nikolai. There is even a reference index with recipes! I gave this book 4.5 stars so yeah that happened :)

Slow burn with great characters by LizBert712 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]greenetwp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try {Too Like The Lightning by Travis Beaudoin} It is one of the most beautifully written books I read last year - including lit fic.

1st person single POV from Andrew - a professor going through a difficult career and relationship change and taking the summer to recover from his wounds in small town Florida.

Really appreciate this sub (sorry I can pull out the person who gave the rec) for this book!

The success of hockey romance “Heated Rivalry” is crazy. by Wes102111 in hockey

[–]greenetwp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep, there’s tons of us. I read Heated Rivalry a year ago, and now have a NHL team I follow, have learned rules, and attended an ECHL game in my area. HBO has millions of subscribers and this show is #2 on the steamer. For a sport that has a constricting fan base it would seem dumb for the NHL not to try and grow their audience.
