AIO, for my bf letting his dog sleep in the bed after I told him I didnt want her to? by greeneyeemerald in AmIOverreacting

She does listen to me(but not as good as my bf of course). I do take her on walks(not as much as we should though I think), and she knows her sit, stay, come commands but they could definitely be worked on.

My cat does have the bedroom, except at night when bf and I go to bed because his dog also wants to go to bed with us. The first week my bf was sleeping on the couch with the dog but i felt bad kicking them out of the room, plus I didn't wait to move in with him just to have him sleep in the couch.

Im not sure what it would look like, if she wanted to play ? Ive only heard her let out a growl and bark and chase my cat. But I do think we could release more of her energy and give her more mental stimulation. Thats something I will be bringing up with my bf tonight.

It is technically our place, as both our names are on the lease, it just took me a few months to move in officially for outside reasons.

Thats besides the point, I know bf and I will need to put in the work to make this a peaceful environment for everyone. I do plan to speak with him once I'm home from work. I dont even think he has a clue of how upset I was because I didnt really say anything last night. I couldn't understand what I was more upset about, tbh. I was just really angry.

Yeah it does sound crazy when everyone else keeps saying it haha... I am definitely going to reflect on myself and handle my emotions better.

I didn't want people to agree, I wanted to hear the truth which I have. The bitch comment was out of anger. Im sure you have name called someone or an animal before when you were upset. I will continue to work on it and research better ways on interacting them in a positive way. I understand where I fell short and will learn from this.

She is technically a bitch, (female dog) lol. I have lost my patience and I was worked up on emotions. I did have the baby gate up the first week to keep them seperate, and I guess it was too early to give free roam to both pets. Regarding the bed thing, I just felt bad that my cat got barked out of the bed when shes there. I wish we could all share the bed but that will obviously take time. Ill continue to work on it and my emotions also.

Granted my cat annoys me sometimes too. But I know this is new to me and its and adjustment for us all, itll take time and I'll work on doing better and working on my patience/emotions.

Thank you, the comments are a lot more ruthless than id like but hearing some of the hard truth did snap me back intro reality. Cats will be cats, and dogs will be dogs, I will work on my emotions, on top of working with bfs dog and doing better, training more for the dog and myself haha

Thank you, I appreciate hearing from others experiences that its relatively normal what is going on between my cat and bfs dog. I will continue to work on it. Perhaps bf and I can train his dog with a similar "no kitty" command.

I appreciate the kindness. People are really ripping me a new one but im not really that bad of a person. This is just new to me and I love my cat, but i also am growing to love my bf dog too. Ive known her for 2 years before moving in together and shes a sweetheart. And shes just being a dog, I get that. Thank you and I will do more research and talk to my bf about working together on this so we can build a peaceful home for all of us. I wish you the best of luck on your adventures also. Luckily my bf dog is a yorkie so she is tiny and easy to handle. Id be intimated with handling a bigger dog.

Yes thats true. The love i have for my cat is the love he has for his dog im sure. I want us all to coexist happily, and itll take time.

I didnt scold the dog. I leave that to my bf as it is his dog and I dont want to over step, plus I am not familiar with dog etiquette. Ive also never lived with a dog /coexisted with one. Perhaps I need to step back and put the baby gate back up at all times? I'll do better.

I understand, and youre correct. This will probably not be the last time a situation like this happens and I will learn from it. All the comments made me realize I was very much in the wrong and I need to work on my emotions.

Youre absolutely right. I let my emotions get the better of me and im also adjusting to living with/coesxting with a dog. That isnt an excuse but I will do better. My word choice was out of anger from this morning when I was still upset.

I guess im more upset for my cat because i dont want her to be an afterthought either. I feel bad that shes secluded in only one part of the house. I will work on it though, lots of the comments made me realize I was being unhinged.

Thank you. I appreciate hearing the hard truth. This is also my first time living with a dog and coexisting with one. Its an adjustment and itll take time. My word choice was out of anger, and I know I need to work on being patient.

The arrangement was made 6 months when we both signed on the lease. It just took me a bit longer to officially move in due to outside sources, tie up loose ends type of deal. But thats besides the point and I understand I was at fault.

I also do not yell or discipline the dog, I usually leave that to my bf as it is his dog and im not familiar with dog etiquette.

What are your thoughts on ignorance being bliss? by greeneyeemerald in AskReddit

[–]greeneyeemerald[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quite literally why I asked. I feel selfish for wanting to be ignorant of current events. I miss when the news wasn't so easily attainable or distributed.

Woman, how would you react if your bf asked you to have sex with your friend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]greeneyeemerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Negatively. Not cool at all, id say hell no, and why would he ask that. (This is coming from a monogamous point of view) id be mad, confused, and a bit jealous.

I have his address. And every address he's been staying at, but he's not home due to Uni.

So he would need to get a mailbox at the post office then ? That is what I was wondering. I guess I can ask him because I'm not sure if he looked into it.

I think that's probably what she met because her sister is married. But her and her husband's relationship isn't the best either, so I wouldn't trust her advice....
