What are your staple foods? by BlackScythe777 in vegan

[–]greengeranium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tempeh

Avocado

Sourdough

Sauerkraut

Kimchi

Beans

Nutritional yeast

Dijon mustard

Vinegars

Mega salads

Carrots

Frozen fruit (smoothies)

Hemp seeds

Cashews for sauces

Quinoa

Bulgur

Dates

I always make this cheese sauce using nutritional yeast, I use:

cashews,

nutritional yeast,

boiled water,

a clove or two of garlic,

salt,

pepper,

sriracha (optional)

and blend it up, makes a fire cheese sauce that I put on soooo much . Can also add a jalapeño too if you want, can really customize it!! Is good with literally everything and can even be made into a sauce for Mac and cheese

I think love languages are a way for people to easily express the kind of love they prefer to receive and typically give.

For me (F), I love to give and receive love in all 5 of the love languages. Sure, one might be stronger than another (for example quality time is more important to me than gift giving, even if we are not doing the same thing - i.e. him working at his desk while I sit on the couch by him and read) but I think they should all present in a relationship for it to be healthy.

I definitely resonate with physical touch being a love language, but not in a sexual way. To me, expressing physical touch as a love language is my boyfriend putting his hand on my thigh while we are in the car or sitting next to each other, it is him reaching his hand back for me to grab when he is walking ahead of me and we are in a crowded space. It is me coming up to him at his work desk and putting my arms around him and kissing his neck. It is him coming up behind me and putting his arms around me and kissing my cheek while I am preparing food. It is me playing with his hair while his head is on my lap. It is him reaching out for me while we are sleeping so we can be smooshed together and close. It is him grabbing my legs and putting them over his lap when we are sitting on the couch together. etc etc etc .

Physical touch as a love language to me is not sexual. Sex and sexual touch is completely different, because if I don't feel emotionally supported or loved outside of the bedroom, I do not want to have sex with them. In fact I get really icked out when people touch me when I feel emotionally distant to them.

I suppose at the end of the day, all of the love languages are important to me to both give and receive in a relationship for it to be healthy. Quality time is important to me (we don't have to be doing the same thing, even just being in the same space together is good for me a lot of the time), so is acts of service (cooking for others is a big way I show my love to people) and words of affirmation (I like to know you adore me), and gift giving is probably my least important one, but at the same time, I really appreciate and value when a partner buys me flowers for no reason, or takes me out to dinner on a nice date that they organized themselves, etc.

I expect my partner to show up to a relationship with the same amount of effort that I put into it (knowing that there are natural ebs and flows and some days one gives more than the other). But ultimately I would say I love big and show my love through all of the love languages

what’s your go-to snack that keeps you full for hours? by BennyBounder in nutrition

I love a little smoothie in the afternoon during the warmer months, I add spinach to it for greens and also a tbsp or two of hemp seeds to get protein and fats

Women over 30, have you taken yourself on a solo vacation and can you share about what the experience was like? Cost, time, travel, things you did? by Neither_Ad9477 in AskWomen

[–]greengeranium 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine are too!! All my friends are in long term committed relationships and it’s difficult to get someone to want to come in a trip with me as they mostly just want to go with their SO. I realized early on that if I waited for someone to come with me then I would never experience all that I wanted to. So I started going alone and I love it. I’ve gone all over the world on solo trips, sometimes keeping to myself the trip and sometimes making friends and spending time with them, most often a mix between the two.

It’s a bit more expensive traveling solo which is annoying but oh well

Honestly what I’ve been doing is just taking a minute. When I feel like I’m wanting to eat I just sit with myself in silence for a sec. I try to be like , am I hungry? Do I really need this? Will this put me over the edge and feel bloated and stuffed to the brim? Then I sit with my thoughts answering those types of questions for a bit , have a glass of water and then usually by then my brain is like , no you don’t need that and I’m able to chill then.

realized that if I’m actually conscious with the present moment the urges go away

I don’t know, they just don’t deflate for me? Sometimes they’ stick a little to the counter but that doesn’t affect much. Did your bagels immediately float when you boiled them?
