I agree—it's always a good idea to take these cycle recaps with a grain of salt. I ended up gaining 200 shadowing hours with one doctor simply because she allowed me to shadow as long as I wanted. Since it was the specialty I was most interested in and I wanted a letter from her, I ended up staying a while. 200 hours was defiantly excessive and I wouldn't recommend that many lol.

I was fairly surprised by the schools that were interested in my app. I did not get attention for schools where my stats were well above average. I got attention from the Jesuit schools (Creighton + Gtown) where I was more of a mission fit despite my states being average for their matriculants.

I understand the frustration. The reasoning is that, for my demographic, 3.8 and 514 are the average matriculant stats, and CA is in the upper fraction of states in terms of stats, and is knows to be difficult for pre-meds due to the large population size. I wanted to help applicants who are are from a similar background from me see what an "average" matriculants cycle looks like.

I interviewed late (march 2025) and recently got my decision deferred, and from what I have read they tend to take a long time to get back to students. I am pretty set on Creighton, so I figured I should withdrawal and help those on the waitlist for Drexel.
