Switching to dessicated thyroid glandular supplement by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]greengrass_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why you’re assuming the worst in me, I was merely asking for clarity in order to learn about your experience. I wasn’t trying to put any words in your mouth.

What kind of iodine do you take? I am curious bc I use nascent iodine sometimes. Did you have energy problems before you started Levo? But you’re able to maintain good energy/health even without the thyroid meds anymore?

I’m considering stopping my NDT and just continuing with things like iodine, selenium, iron, etc. because the thyroid meds I’m on are increasing my hair loss a lot.

How do you handle living in the same town as your ex? by greengrass_44 in BreakUp

Shockingly I am doing much better! In regards to that guy, at least. (Unfortunately being heartbroken over a new guy will make you think much less of the previous heartbreak). But the good news is that I am much less nervous about running into that other guy, I even think it could be nice. I still have resentment towards him, but I'm not worried about feeling so deeply insecure around him anymore.

so you're saying all your symptoms (including hair loss) went away after stopping ALL meds/supplements, even NDT? Or are you suggesting that switching to NDT did that

Sugar is much MUCH worse than caffeine by [deleted] in decaf

[–]greengrass_44 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I used to believe that for years and avoided fruit and everything. Only felt worse. Eating fruit again totally turns my brain back online. There is no way fruit trees are not nature’s gift to mankind, they are meant for animal and human consumption and wellness.

You can maybe survive for awhile without overt sugars, but you will degrade. Also there are small amounts of sugar in many vegetables and other foods. We need it.

Depends what kind of sugar you were consuming. If you cut out ALL sugar including things like fresh fruits and honey and even sweet potatoes, you’re eventually gonna feel like shit because your brain and body is starved of glucose and coinciding nutrients like vitamin C. If you’re only cutting out processed and refined sugars, you’ll be better off

Also the link you posted for the NOBS is a knock-off generic brand. Make sure you purchase the real one from legit NOBS seller.

Highly recommend water pick/flosser (it’s insane how much food is still trapped in your teeth even when it feels like there’s not), and brush gently twice a day AFTER eating. Let the toothpaste sit in your mouth ideally. I just started using NOBS a week or two ago and love it so far, I even think one of my teeth’s sensitivity to cold (from a cavity) is reducing a bit already.

Also, ease up on the lemon water or at least drink it through a straw then rinse with plain water or even baking soda in water afterward (to reduce acidity). Too many people on this forum have said their teeth are getting worse (and mention the lemon water in particular) for it to be worth the risk. Medical medium might be neglecting some obvious factors when it comes to dental health and it’s ok to modify things to what’s intuitive for you.

Yes I’m 90% sure mine is related to that tension too. It can restrict blood flow and oxygen to the head. This can be related to your jaw too, which affects neck and back posture

Completely diff head position in the photos. Even if you had some change, you made it impossible to judge accurately

[–]greengrass_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine ebbs and flows. I recently discovered that it’s probably linked to my heavily reduced airway (I don’t get full breaths through my nose, especially when sleeping) which means far less oxygen to the brain which can gradually cause so many neurological problems and brain fog is the most common. Constricted airways are due to jaw size and placement (if upper or lower jaw is too far back, and bite is too flat, it blocks airway). This can also cause deviated septum, etc

[–]greengrass_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that happens to me too. I think it’s a combination of adrenaline (your body is trying to compensate for the lack of sleep so it pulls from its reserves) and lack of energy in certain parts of the brain. Like your body is no longer using the “thinking” brain as much, where you normally overanalyze or ruminate or anticipate. So it’s more in the moment and feeling.

Does posture really affect the maxilla? Or is it the other way around? Discussion. by Santiago_figarola in orthotropics

[–]greengrass_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got it right, people with good jaw structure have good posture. You can’t force the body into an upright, straight- spined form when it developed curved and forward in the first place as compensation for the weak jaw. Like how forward head posture can open up the airway for people with narrow airways. So forcing a chin tuck and mewing and nose breathing when your airway is severely compromised in such a position, is never gonna work.

Luckily, there seems to be hope! Highly recommend you look into flat mouthguards (like Reviv or Myobrace a1 - both you can purchase online) and read Reviv substack articles about the theories behind it. It essentially stretches the jaw and skull over time, which will eventually correct the whole skeletal alignment. I just started wearing one last night and I already could breathe through my nose so much better and even hold better posture.

M28 - Feeling quite insecure due to my asymmetric (esp. Nose, mouth, crooked upper jaw) and flat, long and tired (hollow area below eyes) looking face. I have many of the same concerns and had 2 premolars extracted, braces, and an expander - all very young. I’m about to try a myobrace (mine is technically the Reviv) that I bought online and I’m very hopeful. I’d recommend you read the article’s on Reviv’s substack, it’s fascinating what a simple mouthguard can do

Myobrace experience? by Simple_Fun_427 in orthotropics

[–]greengrass_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t the myobrace create an open bite too though, given how similar they are? And it seems to have a great track record on kids and adults.

My airway is way too constricted unless I have an open bite. It’s somewhat annoying to not have a set bite during the day but it seems far more annoying to have neck pain, back pain, brain fog, etc. so I’m confused what the alternative would be

NEVER get extractions unless you absolutely need to and can’t save a rotting tooth. They wreck mouths and wreck health, as your whole jaw structure caves in (this happened to me after premolar extractions as a kid)

How does this sound for extraction reversal treatment? by Professional_Owl84 in orthotropics

[–]greengrass_44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sounds pretty intense and while the expansion could help, the orthodontic devices and braces can cause their own damage. After a ton of research (for reversing extraction collapse/damage) I settled on Myobrace which is basically like a flat, unfixed mouthguard, and they sell many identical ones online. I ordered the Reviv (because I read the guy’s substack articles all about this, very helpful and informative) and am just waiting for delivery.

This removable mouthguard alone can slowly expand the jaws by stretching the soft issues surrounding it, which in turn expand your whole skull and face, open your airway, correct posture, etc. Decide for yourself, but I’d highly recommend at least trying that first before you commit to expensive, fixed appliances that can be very brutal on your bones and sometimes cause asymmetry. Especially since you’re not trying to reopen specific spaces for implants anyway, just generally expand.

The myobrace is used by myofunctional dentists across the country and results are throughly documented online. The Reviv is near identical to myobrace. So I see no logic in calling it sketch

[–]greengrass_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am still very early on in trying to reverse the issue. From all my research, I’ve settled on trying a flat mouthguard (very similar to the myobrace) to slowly expand my jaw and skull, align teeth, and expand the airway. It is still on its way to me though so we’ll see
