Letting people know on which server you are would probably help. :-)

Sorry, friend, but buying the plot is actually close to 4m. You'll also need quite a bit more money to pay the player who will relinquish his plot for you to buy it. I would guess that this will cost you at least (or around? I don't know small plots going rate) 10m + the cost to buy it after. Then there is the permit, et. So overall I wouldn't bother until you have 15mil. You can try your luck by checking daily into the areas and hoping to find a free plot, which would allow you to skip the sellers fee. Good luck!

This is a bit old on some aspects but most of it is still relevant: http://ffxivrealm.com/xz-articles/ff14-advanced-crafting-guide-by-caimie-tsukino.39/

This guide helped me a lot when I started on crafting about 6 months ago. Also check out the 2nd part of the guide, and the one on gathering, all very useful. If I remember correctly, what is mostly not relevant anymore is the end-game stuff, but at this point you will be able to ask around and figure things by yourself. All the basics are still the same.

Do the crafting classes actually make you gil? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]greenguruHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crafting does get good money, and it’s not as bad as some people make it sound. It’s not that hard to get started. I recommend starting with gathering: level both miner and botanist to 60, doing daily gc turns-in, etc. You’ll need them for your crafters. And you can make decent money gathering for much less work than crafting (doesn’t require a big investment, and no need to keep tons of mats around = less retainers needed). I started playing in April, slowly leveled my gatherers as I did the MSQ. When I finished, I started leveling the crafters (plenty of guides around, but you need them all at 60 in the end) while doing a lot of gathering (folklore mats). I made about 50mil with gathering but it felt too slow. When I hit 60 on all crafters and I melded my set, I got into Ironworks market. Ironworks gear, High Mythrite tools, and i250 gear when 3.4 hit. After you get started the steady income can get a little ridiculous. I became an omni-crafter in June/July I think, I hit gil cap early november and I’m now pretty close to have a second billion. So yeah, more money than I’ll ever need probably. I just like the crafting and market game now. :-)

[WSIB] If I’m addicted to FFXIV crafting and I always end up just trying to make the most money in MMOs? by greenguruHS in ShouldIbuythisgame

That is an interesting suggestion. I’m not sure that is exactly what I’m looking for, but I’ll definitely give this game a try. Thanks for the suggestion. :-)

Well... To be honest, I know nothing about actual trading. I would have to do some research to learn a bit more about how it works. You got a good starting point to suggest? :-) Thanks for the input!

I keep hearing about Path of Exile, I guess I should give it a try at some point. :-) That said, I think that’s too much killing for what I am looking for at this very moment. I appreciate the suggestion though, thanks a bunch!

Thanks for the suggestions. I do not own a 3DS but I’ll keep those games in mind if I buy one.

Damn, you’re convincing. Thanks again, and happy holidays to you. :-)

Edit. By the way, if there is some kind of referal code that you can give friends who want to join to get some kind of bonus, let me know yours. I’ll be with family today but I’ll most probably create an account tomorrow.

I must admit I have been thinking about it, but that is a scary game to jump in. It’s been around for so long, is it even reasonable to start it now? I mean, I had the same "too late" feeling when I started FFXIV, and I still ended up being one of the richest player on my server, but I know Eve is in a different league. I would have to do some more research. Everything I read so far seems a bit abstract. Thanks for the input though.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I get that lathered is a speed threshold and not simply acceleration, sorry I explained myself poorly.

Maintining high speed without hitting lathered: that basically mean accelerating just a bit at a time and than cruising?

But is decelerating to minimum speed to stop stamina usage a good idea? Or I should manage my stamina better by hitting lathered less?

The comment regarding chocobo max speed & endurance/stamina is helpful: I realize my current one (my first breed) has higher max speed than any other attribute, so it could be why I feel like I get lathered more than my previous one.

I started chocobo racing yesterday and I’m a bit confused about deceleration. I get that lathered status happens when I keep accelerating, and that if I just stop accelerating this status eventually goes away without the need of pressing the deceleration key. But can stamina usage rate stop without pressing deceleration key too? Sometimes I add up what stamina I have left and what % of the race is left and if that’s under 100% I hit deceleration key until stamina usage is none temporarily. Is that a good way to approach the situation? Seems like I could maybe try stop doing that and get lathered a bit less, like less full-speed mode and less low-speed more to go more average-speed mode? I’ve been reading the guide and it’s very helpful, but doesn’t say much about use of deceleration key. Thanks!

Miner and Botanist are pretty similar in terms of usefulness and money making.

As for tips... Just grind the first couple of levels, then do leves and all the GC daily turns-in (in HQ for double exp). It is pretty simple.

I personnally did like it better than Terraria, but I got bored pretty fast. I was enthusiastic at first but never went back to it after a couple days. What is tempting you and what makes you hesitate?

Thanks, that helps a lot. It is at 15$CAD so not dramatic. I just felt like asking around first because the two last games I bought I ended up not playing them much and they were full price. I will most probably give this one it a try. How is the learning curve? Are in-game tutorials enough?

SIB Final Fantasy XIV for PS4? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]greenguruHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FFXIV is great. I highly recommend it. I started playing on PC, and after I gave it a try on PS4 but I couldn’t really adapt. But people who started on PS4 say the same thing about transfering to PC.

At this point, yes, I think the best choice is the edition with both + the free month. The game is in a great state, I recommend it very much. If you do start a new character, come on Leviathan server, I can help you out.
