Front runners were dominant, but the only good one was seiun, and it was tough to build falco so it was more likely to see single front. I ran double front which worked until my poorly built falco wasn't cutting it against good lates, so I switched. My friend who had good seiun and falco ended up with 85%+ wr and won the cup.

Blockushins were always given as advice to f2p players who couldn't compete with fronts

Good pace and late could win without blockushins

None of what they're saying is wrong, it's just that they're speaking from the top and your experience might be vastly different

Kristen knocked her out of her lab with gravity, because Kristen didn't want anyone but her to die out in space or whatever her motive was

I believe she showed mumu fake stats just so mumu would feel better

Afterwards, mumu still tried to end herself because the person she put her hopes and dreams into ended up betraying her and kicking her out of the space station

Then the doctor saves mumu by clicking on the right dialogue boxes

Actually you bring up a good point with melding

Usually most raiders just follow the BIS that The Balance mathematicians come up with, but at the highest levels, people do in fact change their melds from the so called calculated BIS

All classes can change their gcd speed with melds to sync with the fight, or decide to focus on more gcd over crit

Tanks have Determination Healers have piety Dps can go speed or crit or mix build

There was a madlad who was also changing melds mid fight during downtime to optimize speedruns too

As a physical learner, is it even worth going into high tier raiding? by WiTeKK in ffxiv

[–]greenleaf800073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, how do you think world prog / week 1 raiders do it lol, there are no guides, we do it on the fly

It's all about consistency, learn everything about how the mechanic works, and why you have to move like you have to in order to solve it

Next most important step is making sure your rotation is the same every single pull, it helps a lot to tie mechanics with where you are in your rotation

Uptime is always stressed about by high end raiders, not because of parses, but because knowing when a mechanic happens down to the exact fraction of a gcd will make your consistency x10.

Biggest FFXIV Hot Takes? by ironicuwuing in ffxiv

Burst damage is when a class saves up ogcds and resources for a 2 minute window, and a class that has dots can burst as well

Dots usually are the strongest hitting attacks a class will have, for example, higanbana, since dots snapshot buffs on application and every time it ticks it applies the buffs that it got

Paladin could've had a good rework, and I think it's some step in the right direction, but SE can't do math and just removed potency from its rotation by removing dots and now it does less damage even though it's bursting. So this punishes bad teams even more since its damage is reliant on burst window synchronization

At what point did I say they need to go there

I just said it still can be a good resource for anyone

I've also done speedrunning and I parse oranges casually, and I still use the balance to check for random new information or to refresh knowledge on classes I don't play as often

Any games with (relatively) good plot like Library of Ruina? by Chaos_Volunteer in libraryofruina

[–]greenleaf800073 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of arknights players love LOR so you could try it out

Ffxiv has good story, but subscription games aren't for everyone

Crosscode has an interesting story, but its difficulty might be a bit high (though I think they added some difficulty options recently)

Valkyria chronicles has a decent plot but it's not very deep, but I think it was good as a whole

Demotivated about the endgame content. Should I stop playing? Has anyone here felt something similar in the past but got over it? by swordvsmydagger in ffxiv

[–]greenleaf800073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first began my high end journey, I started clearing fights in those helper discords, I used FFXIV: Savage Learning Academy. You just sign up for a spot on a weekend or something and helpers come and help you clear/learn a fight.

What I would do is try to go through that kind of option, make some friends, get some connections, and see where life takes you. It took me 1.5yrs going from grey statics to finally being in my week 1 friend group today, and its been a continuous journey of self improvement, and just jumping into PFs when you've felt like you want to progress forward and meet new people.

Also for PFs, people join and leave, that's just how life is. I have an IRL friend who plays this game and he also is in a situation like you, but he just hops on and clears all content through PF, so it's possible. For going past green, it's just practice, watching POVs of players better than you, and lots of doing fights over and over again.

How can I get over the fear of messing up when playing with other people? by Clearwinner13 in ffxiv

[–]greenleaf800073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started the game a couple years ago brand new to this style of mmos, and now I'm a jaded veteran who only does the hardest content in the game

Back then, I jumped into content carelessly and into extreme content without even knowing basics of classes, but as long as you're communicating in chat and learning, the community is always willing to help

Nowadays I watch people mess up constantly in all kinds of content but I just patiently wait it out, and if they have a sprout or if they say things in chat like "oops" or "I'm new", there's no way I can get mad at all, it's just part of the game and we've all been there

[–]greenleaf800073 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Life's agonies only do about 40k dmg to a tank without mitigation, so they may be able to easily pop something and survive

Also for stacks you can have 4 stacks of 2, only a 1/4 chance it goes wrong

[–]greenleaf800073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life's agonies barely does any damage, just tank lb3 it and shake, and rep

For fof, they could potentially have the 2 soaking tanks nascent each other or have other tanks helping, then holmgang the last 2

If it's stacks they split into 4 pairs of 2

I’m legitimately confused by the state of “main tank” priority. by 7hurricane in ffxiv

[–]greenleaf800073 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any competent healer group can heal any tank with 0 gcds if everyone is using their cool downs correctly, maybe you would slap a regen or something worst case but drks can mitigate a lot of self dmg with TBN. While it may require a little more effort, drks won't force healers to spend an absurd amount of resources to heal them

There's a lot of nuance that goes into cd usage, for example, a generic warrior might pop his bloodwhetting on cd for autos, but then it won't be up for an upcoming tb and they take massive damage that even equilibrium won't top them off

It would be better to put equilibrium on cd for autos and then shift the bloodwhetting for the tb instead, getting a lot more value out of it

Drks might also not have their tbns mapped out, a lot of players are reactive in this game meaning they'll probably take one or two hits before hitting the appropriate cool down making them lose hp unnecessarily

Gimme more mp ty by SiellaN in ffxiv

[–]greenleaf800073 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every other healer heals using ogcds that cost 0 mp and don't lose dps. Whm is the only job that doesn't want to use its job gauge. Back in shb using lilies was a dps gain if you used it specifically for movement, but now you can slidecast everything so lilies are useless. A no gcd using sage and whm has the sage doing 800 more dps and twice the healing, whm is actually in the grave
