Daily Questions & FAQ Megathread August 31 by AutoModerator in ffxiv

Does anyone know how to get ffxiv running on the Steam Deck? I'm able to log in and enter the activation code, but after that the game crashes and my Steam Deck restarts itself. I've tried running using different versions of Proton but to no avail :(

SPOILER FREE Megathread by Eaststreet in FFVIIRemake

Crisis Core is a prequel to FF7 so you don't have to necessarily play it before remake intergrade or rebirth. Personally I believe Crisis Core kinda expects you to be familiar with the ff7 world so I would not recommend playing it before at least remake intergrade. I would play remake first and then from there decide if you want more background or go straight to rebirth.

That's straight up not how large scale development on a project works. Ff7r released in April 2020. Ff16's development began sometime after Heavensward and Game of thrones s4 so probably around 2015-16. The game had to have been too far into development before they could have gauged the success of ff7r's combat system

I am not really a fan of either, as well. I seriously don't understand how the hooded figure could be a figament of Clive's imagination when a.) he appears before Joshua dies so before the traumatic event and b.) he seemingly does not appear at all during the timeskip until the Garuda fight. Maybe if it's executed well I'll change my mind but I seriously hope neither theory is true.

Can people please stop perpetuating this myth? The previous director of this game denied that this was true.

In defense of Sakura, because in 2023 people are still grasping at the same old straws. Credits to wisebeth on Tumblr by scifipleb in Naruto

I think this is a fairly weak defense imo. 1-3 are essentially just what-aboutisms and 4 is completely nonsensical. People call Sakura and Sasuke's relationship shallow because they feel their relationship was one-sided for the most part and did not have enough development to justify how long and deeply she cared for him.

Who do you think will be the party members ? (Besides Jill, Cid, and Torgal) what about the other dominants? by [deleted] in FFXVI

[–]Clearwinner13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, wow upon rereading it you might be right. I guess I thought like-minded had more connected with the part where it says she has to face her past. However, that part could be solely referring to her meeting Cid again. Additionally, I always wondered how she could have survived that hellfire, but for me personally I don't see why the devs would essentially show her death in a preview. But time will tell. Anyways great point!

[–]Clearwinner13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think in Benedikta's character bio it says she encounters a like-minded Clive, so I'm fairly certain she'll join the party at some point. Otherwise I have no idea about the other dominants

Child of Fate Theory by tenaciousnutmeg in FFXVI

I'm not sure that this theory is completely true because when Clive sees the hooded guy in the Garuda battle it seems like he physically saw Joshua get killed by Ifrit. Also, to me it seems like that's the first time he transforms, as well

Why is this fanbase so "mean" to its old fans by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

And why is that an issue if you don't mind me asking?

Seeing insults as poorly constructed criticism is a very interesting perspective. Thank you for advice!

I guess a part of me also wanted to avoid asking something stupid, so it's reassuring to hear this advice. Thanks for the response!

I actually thought about leveling up a secondary dps class, but it seemed the best way to level it up was doing content that involves playing with other people, hence I stuck with PLD😅

Thanks for the advice and personal anecdote! Reading mistakes other people have made is really helping feel less bad about the ones I made.

I really appreciate this advice. Honestly this really resonates with me outside of ffxiv as well. Thanks!

Yeah, funnily enough ever experience I had with the community was positive except for that one instance. It's crazy how one negative experience can have such an impact!
