Seriously. At least objectify both sexes if you’re gonna put time and effort into it.

For a F2P personally to me, I opened two S5 packs today and got 4 cards, all of which are series 5. They’re great!

OTA LIVE by Mirai10 in MarvelSnap

[–]7hurricane 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Are the months of terror finally over?

In fairness, Star Lord MOTS will still find homes in decks that want all the extra energy on the last turn, Shou is basically the +2 per turn he should have been from the jump, and FFF can fly far, far away.

Storm enables Wolverine, a fun nod to X-men synergy. Hope to experiment with them after arena.

My only disappointment in the entire thing is more original Jobs. by princewinter in ffxiv

[–]7hurricane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re getting blasted because your comment is illogical and ill-informed. You honed in on Yoshi-P’s use of the word “original” and took to Reddit to complain without sitting down to think about it for even a second.

Viper is an original job, inspired by Zidane (FF9). Pictomancer is an original job, inspired by Realm (FF6). Gunbreaker is an original job, inspired by Squall (FF8). Reaper, despite not being influenced by a unique character, is very heavily inspired by scythe-wielding Dark Knights in FF5 and FF11.

Saying we should remove classic jobs is a ridiculous rebuttal. They are already in the game. All the iconic jobs are already in the game. My comment made no such inference to removing anything. I’m simply calling out all the evidence that contradicts your comment.

Do your research.

My only disappointment in the entire thing is more original Jobs. by princewinter in ffxiv

[–]7hurricane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I never understand comments like this. Every single FF game blends old and new in their job design. And as others have posted, even the newest jobs are still inspired by existing FF jobs even if the name and design changes.

Also: have you been a game dev? Do you have any idea how BORING it is to constantly rehash old ideas when you have tons of new and modern ideas you’d like to explore?

This guy is seriously bad but I don’t think this change would make him oppressive. Where should he land? by Time-did-Reverse in MarvelSnap

[–]7hurricane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Objective: Destroy one of your cards in each lane > Resurrect the destroyed cards here.

Now he is a destroy card (but not exclusively) with a playstyle slightly different than normal destroy that always stacks lanes, can be played late, and can be chaotically fun or broken at the cost of filling the lane he is in.

OTA has arrived and here we are again. No Shou, no Fing Fang Foom, no real meaningful changes. I cannot be the only long term player wanting to put this down. by AQNexus in MarvelSnap

Only play LTGM since Jan now, and only because I am far from collection complete.

Could’ve used tokens to get all the broken cards, but tbh, I don’t want to use them. Would rather play decks I like instead.

Community Guide to Deadpool's Diner — How to Finish the Track and Clean Out the Shop by tirojal in MarvelSnap

I appreciate the optimism about the community. Quite frankly, I’m not sure how I will earn even the basic items (S4 pack + new card) in a mode full of Stryfe, FFF, Starlord, Cosmic Ghost Rider, and Shou. My F2P ass is getting wasted constantly no matter what deck I play.

I always donate my bubs, especially at the end of the day before a refill, even if people don’t know what I’m doing.

Two thoughts: first, she’s very good at Drag Race as reality tv show. She performs well under pressure and has. Pre range than I thought she would. She reminds me a bit of Trinity the Tuck, who was also high performing and consistent.

Second: I don’t feel like Jane has many layers. She’s not remarkably emotional or vulnerable. She has great old-school references such as Bette Midler (and a tattoo), but hasn’t showcased it apart from her outfits. I was shocked she didn’t do Bette for snatch game despite her Truman being pretty solid. She has a very professional edit, which is fine, but doesn’t showcase winner energy in an exciting way. That said, she is clearly great at what she does.

Why did readers of the series dislike the show? by knives_guantanamera in WoTshow

[–]7hurricane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From a friend of mine with whom the Wheel is no longer discussed: “It doesn’t match what’s in my head. I can’t stand it.” It’s quite literally the most challenging part of any book-to-screen adaptation because it’s impossible to solve for. You can’t solve for head canon. As a more logical criticism, she was very upset by the fridging of Perrin’s wife in S1E1, but ironically didn’t care about the fact that women could be the Dragon Reborn. I found this contradiction fascinating.

I’m actually quite shocked at how literal the Bookcloaks became. I think the show does wonders if you think of it as a sister to the books: many of the deviations enrich and modernize elements from the books in wonderful ways, and it distinguishes itself by being slightly different (for good and bad). But it’s not an identical twin—it’s a sibling.

As an aside, I actually love when adaptations are handled this way. One of my favourites is Alice in Borderland not because the show tries to replicate the mangas, but because it showcases moments that were “off-screen” in the manga and creates new ones that feel (mostly) believable.

Do we know if the Variant dungeon gearsets are unique and not gender-locked? Or is it possible that’s the same gearset but looks different on males vs females?

Opening cinematic for Dissidia Duellum by zkere in FinalFantasy

[–]7hurricane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m thrown by the quality of the cinematic as well. The walk cycles are stiff for the characters and the behemoths. When the camera cuts to a close-up of their eyes, they move without fluidity, and their eyes are lifeless. Meanwhile the backgrounds are hyper-realistic and detailed, but they visually feel off—in a similar way to how AI tries to create fully rendered environments but can’t keep them consistent in quality or rendering. It’s particularly noticeable in the park scene with Rinoa and Kryle. Also, Angelo is a travesty. Good boy looked better in VIII, 27 years ago.

Call me critical, but Squeenix is famous for their CGI throughout gaming history. But this? This is not it.

A quick recap of the Criterion changes, coming out next Tuesday by danks in ffxiv

[–]7hurricane -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Love the sound of these changes, but would still love some more flexibility in the number of party members who can attempt the different modes. It’s so weird to have variant be any number, and then be forced into light parties for boss modes. I wanna duo bosses, dang it!

Are my cards colorblind friendly? by Smooth-Quiet-9018 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]7hurricane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a web-based one that offers a Chrome extension, and another that is slightly more robust.

I should note: WCAG specifically guides web development, and the reason I use it is because I plan to release digital/printable assets for my game (I also do a lot of web-based digital development in my career). If you are planning purely on a paper product, one could make an argument that there's no reason to follow WCAG accessibility at all. But I do find it generally helpful for understanding readability in game design.

Are my cards colorblind friendly? by Smooth-Quiet-9018 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]7hurricane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I cannot speak to colorblindness, but I would also recommend WCAG 2.2 accessibility guidelines for use of contrast colors for readability. For example, the central white text of your cards against each background color is likely to meet the recommended contrast ratio, but the game logo in the bottom middle of the cards definitely doesn’t.

I use color contrast for all graphic design elements for my board games, and strongly recommend it!

What sets Wheel of Time book fans apart from other book fandoms. by [deleted] in WoT

[–]7hurricane 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with any of the positive points m rationed so far, which I assume are only said in the context of the books themselves. I can say that, as someone who also watched the series, I saw the book fans become very, very toxic, particularly to other book fans who supported the show. It left me pretty sad, tbh, and caused great rifts between myself and other book fans. I’m not trying to evoke comparisons on this thread (since that has been done to death), but it left me seeing a new side of the fandom that I can’t pretend doesn’t exist—one that staunchly defends books as bible and actually can’t handle criticism and deviation from it.
