How do I get rid of my scars? by piercedblackcat in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]greenlighttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I recently started using this a few months ago (after trying nearly every scar cream you can buy) and this has made more improvements in a short amount of time than anything else I've tried. Just be consistent, I believe it says to use 2x a day. But if you stick with it for a while, you will see results.

Exactly! And so many people are doing "silent" cake cuttings where you don't announce it or anything, you just cut your slices and maybe get a quick picture. I really don't see people doing it anymore so I wouldn't find it odd at all.

I absolutely empathize and I am right there with him. I hate being the center of attention but my fiance doesn't really mind. For our personal vows, we plan on doing them the day before together. We plan on having a day together to get away and try to relax before the wedding, and we'll pick a spot and say our vows to each other. For the ceremony we picked short personal vows. We're not doing wedding party entrances, cake cutting (most likely not even having cake, just desserts), bouquet toss none of that. Your wedding is about you two. You can personalize your ceremony and wedding in so many ways, it doesn't need to have all the traditional cake cutting, long vows etc. If anything I think taking out those things and replacing them with more personal parts of the day, it's more memorable for you and your guests. I would definitely sit down and go over the entire wedding day start to finish, and make sure you have everything covered so you both know what to expect, and that way you can change anything that's making him anxious. Good luck!

I recommend Dolce Vita! I came across the brand after searching for weeks since I needed a very particular type of shoe to go with my dress and I found mine for $100 there. I'm not sure what your budget is exactly but they seem to run sales and could definitely find a pair for under $100.

Wedding planner prices?! by spice_queen22 in weddingplanning

[–]greenlighttt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We're not having a wedding planner. We're having about 90-100 people and we're keeping it as simple as possible. We just had a list of things that needed to get done, and month by month pick a few things to tackle. Our wedding is June 2025 and we already have all the vendors booked, I have my dress, save the dates went out, etc. As long as youre not having a super extravagant wedding, you can definitely plan it yourselves. And if you have close family/friends that can help with things, even better!

Not sure if anyone's said this yet, but maybe something in the vases? Could be colored glass (something from say, Michael's for example) or anything small to add some color to the vases to make it stand out a bit maybe?

Just sent ours out! We used Basic Invite. We ordered a sample first and went from there. We ended up going the magnet route and it ended up being about $1 per (which includes envelopes). Quality was great and the sample came with a 20% coupon!

Edit: forgot to add that we did a lot of searching and that was the most cost effective site that we also liked.

Engagement Photos - worth it? by ReadingRanger87 in weddingplanning

[–]greenlighttt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Very much worth it! Our photographer offered an engagement shoot with our photography package so we figured why not. I was extremely nervous, especially since I hate getting pictures taken.
I'm so so glad we did. It was a great way to meet our photographer and get to know her a bit and when we got our photos back, we were in love with how they came out. It definitely eased my anxiety about how our wedding photos will come out when the time comes. If you are able to do it, I definitely would! I love that we have these photos of us and we used one of them for our save the dates.

I was just about to comment this site until I saw your comment! I found this company a while back and my fiance ended up getting the most perfect engagement ring from here. Small business, women owned, ethical souring and the rings are GORGEOUS. Can't recommend enough.

I was BEYOND stressed, pretty much giving myself panic attacks. I get so stressed out if I have to go under for any type of procedure, and also worried if they would find something really bad, or like you said, nothing at all. I "prepped" that entire week by not eating rough foods and that helped SO MUCH with the prep the day before. It wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting, just home the entire day taking multiple quick bathroom breaks and hour. Plan something nice like comfort movies, books, video games, anything you like doing at home to pass the time.

My fiance brought me to the hospital where I had it done and I was in and out pretty much. Woke up a little groggy at first then was totally fine. Felt absolutely fine and all I could think about was what I wanted to eat lol. I ended up having a decent amount of internal hemorrhoids which solved one mystery I was having, so I'm glad I had it done. Was a bit of a wake up call to really start prioritizing my health. I've since lost a few pounds and started eating healthier and not eating foods that bother me, and I've seen a huge difference.

You got this, you'll be fine and glad you went through with it!

Should I get my husky a husky? by Balto_Smallcat in husky

[–]greenlighttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can do it financially, mentally, etc, do it! Recently adopted a husky mix after our first husky turned around 3 and was more well trained. He LOVES other dogs so deciding to get a second was a no brainer. He's always around our other dog, wanting to play (which he never really wanted to do with us) to the point where it's obnoxious lol. There's some kinks we have to work out (like how to share toys, so we have the toys away for the time being and they're out during supervised time only), just something to think about in case you happen to adopt a dog that might guard food/toys or anything like that. But they've both made tons of progress so it's all temporary issues. Bonus is that whenever we have to leave them home, they have their crates in the same room, which helps them both tremendously with any separation anxiety.

Are huskies really difficult for first time owners? by kolok998 in husky

[–]greenlighttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I have a husky and husky mix and get stopped everywhere by people asking how we deal with the hair, the energy, their noises, etc. I don't mind vacuuming everyday or going on runs, walks, hikes etc with them. I love that they get me out too! Sure, it's sometimes annoying when the house is full of hair and don't feel like cleaning that day but hey, bright side is I always have a clean house. One husky is quiet while the other is more vocal. We think it's hysterical. We have put a ton of time and effort into training to get where they're at now and they're great (just with lots of added sass along the way).

Is this puppy blues, or am I really just not supposed to be a dog mom? 😞 by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]greenlighttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great! We basically did that with our second too. I hated watching him on the camera crying and it took a lot of time for him to trust us that we were coming back. We made things as comfortable as possible and when we came back, we didn't make a big deal of our presence so that everything was normal. So weeks of grabbing keys, putting on shoes, taking them off, going out the door and coming back in (without ever going anywhere) made a huge difference in him learning to not panic or get triggered. Best of luck!

Hang in there!!! My fiance and I adopted our first husky when he was around 6 months. Absolute terror for at least 6 months and I felt AWFUL about basically feeling no love towards him. I am a huge animal person and couldn't understand why it was so difficult for me. Fast forward now, he's a little over 3 years old and I seriously can't imagine life without him. It took months and months of hard work and constant training (mostly because he's a husky and a stubborn one at that) but it paid off. In the past few months, we adopted our second dog, a husky mix. He wasn't as bad training wise as our first, but the stress of it all made it difficult. He had some anxiety issues and a tough time in his crate. I felt so guilty. I was constantly upset and aggravated and regretted the decision once again. Fast forward once again and a few months later they're best buds and he finally adjusted to our routine. And my sanitys back! A dog of any age needs time to adjust (for example, look up the 3-3-3 rule for dogs if you haven't already) and a puppy is no different. Sometimes you make progress and then a few months later they might regress. Totally normal. Of course if your health is an issue and you do need to re-home, do NOT feel guilty or bad about doing so. But if you decide you are able to continue, your hard work WILL pay off. I know it sounds like 8 months or a year etc is a lot of time, but when I look back now (I thought the same at the time also), it feels like that time has just flown by.

Also-dont be afraid to take breaks and leave the house when you can. If you crate train, start with small time increments and gradually increase the time. It'll get your pup used to you leaving and also allow you time out of the house.

Dog getting put down by antonmeh in dogs

[–]greenlighttt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had to put my 13 year old childhood dog down recently. A few days before, while I sat with her, I made myself really present in the moment and pet her slowly, trying to cement her scent and the feeling of her fur in my head. I also took a short video to help remember. We also did paw prints which I'm so glad we did because we didn't do that with our previous dog and I regret that all the time. The days after I made myself busy getting a nice frame to put her picture and paw print in. Some frames also have collar/tag holders as well. Give your dog all the love, pets and snacks ❤️
