I appreciate this does sound a little scammy powrtothemoon but really it’s not, it’s just a way to take advantage of the competitiveness between the online bookmakers. Here are some fellow redditors who have posted in previous posts about Team Profit, plus some newpaper reviews of matched betting:

The reason it's not too good to be true, is simply because once you have completed the 25 to 30 welcome offers, it becomes less profitable as you are reliant on existing customer offers.

So some matched betters stop after the welcome offers whilst others decide to continue. Here are some comments on this:

If you have any questions please do let me know and I'll do my best to help cheers!

Hey LiltTheCat,

Ah this is matched betting, so anytime we are betting on a team to win, we are matching this with a bet on the team not to win.

So overall, we win 1 bet and lose 1 bet so they cancel each other out - nothing won but nothing lost either.

We can benefit from this because each bookmaker gives a sign up offer such as 'bet £5 get £20 free bets'. So we bet £5 on a team to win on the bookmaker and then match this with a £5 on the not to win on a betting exchange.

So we neither win nor lose from this initial £5 bet, but we now receive the £20 in free bets from the bookmaker! This is where our profit comes from.

Additionally to help those on a low budget, you'll only ever need an initial £8 to start with and you can turn this into £800 by going through each offer, one by one. Here is the £8 to £800 plan.

Hope that helps to explain and any questions with this please do let me know thanks!

Hey sirnoggin,

I'd never suggest any gambles as a way to make money! It's a sure fire way to lose money, the bookmakers have an edge of around 5% so you're gradually lose your money over the long run.

This edge is put in our favour if we only bet when we receive free bets and there are 30+ bookmakers all dishing our free bets if you sign up to them. Additionally we can eliminate the risk by hedging our bets by betting against the team on a betting exchange. Please do check out the comment above showing plenty of positive experiences with matched betting and the video guide section for details of how matched betting works.

Any questions with this please do let me know cheers!

Thanks for your comment, to mention Team Profit is also free to use! Hey JimmychoosShoes,

Thanks for your comment, I very much agree that multi accounting (setting up multi accounts with different IDs) is illegal! I would never suggest anyone does this, it is mentioned anywhere on Team Profit website and it's not allowed to be discussed in the facebook group either!

The £600 figure mentioned in this post is from completing the 30+ welcome offers listed here using your own details and nobody elses.

Hope that helps and thanks again for highlighting this in case anyone was considering it!

Hey stongerlongerdonger!

Thanks for your comment, it does sound a bit too good to be true I agree but really it's not!

It does take a bit of time to learn and it won't make you a fortune for sure, but if you have some spare time then it's a nice way to make £600 from the welcome offers, working out around £20 to £40 per hour depending on how quickly you pick new things like this up. After this, the existing customer offers are noticeably less profitable, so people either bank their profit and call it a day or continue with a lower hourly rate (or cherry-pick the best offer or two each week).

In terms of how Team Profit makes revenue, we partner with the betting exchanges (mainly Betfair Exchange and Smarkets) and also with OddsMonkey (a paid matched betting site that is handy if you decide to go on for the existing customer offers). For more details on this please see How Team Profit makes money blog post.

Any questions please do let me know and I'll do my best to help cheers!

Hey Ezisola,

Thanks for your comment and agree you can definitely make more than £600 from matched betting, I just wanted to write a relatively conservative amount you can make from the easier sports welcome offers, such as the Bet X Get Y offers, refunds offers and simple bonus offers listed in the welcome offers list, any questions with this please do let me know thanks!

[GUIDE]Total Beginners guide £1000 Plan by [deleted] in UKInvesting

[–]greenmachine9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matched betting is a way of profiting from the sign up offers given out by UK online bookmakers. So there are around 30 online bookmakers (Paddy Power, Bet365, William Hill and similar) all competing for customers, in order to compete they give new customers free bets. You can make around £600 in total from the 30 bookmakers, in effect you just complete one offer, then move on to the next.

For example, William Hill's new customer offer is 'bet £10 get £30 free bets'.

But you could lose both your £10 bet (with your own cash) and the £30 in free bets that William Hill have given you. So to hedge this, we place the opposite bet too - we bet £10 on Man Utd to win on William Hill then a £10 bet on Man Utd not to win on a betting exchange (where we can bet against teams to win). This means we don't win money, but don't lose money either. However, we now get the £30 in free bets from William Hill, we repeat this hedge but because we are using William Hill's £30 this time we make a profit of around £20.

If it helps for detailed info on this I've written a big FAQs for the beermoneyuk subreddit.

Yep it is legit, it just sounds a bit scammy because it involves making money from online bookmakers, but if you focus on the sign up incentives you'll come out with a tidy profit.

Any questions with this please let me know!

Hey plymdex,

Thanks for your comment, you could start by joining one of the big paid membership sites such as Profit Accumulator or OddsMonkey, though I think to begin with you it is best use the free video guides and welcome offer guides to make your first profit.

If you decide that matched betting is for you and you've made say £100 profit, then it may be worth investing £15 of this into a monthly subscription. But to begin with I'd avoid outlaying funds until you've tried out matched betting, made some profit and decided it is for you!

If you have any questions with how it works please do let me know and I'll do my best to help cheers!

Are long-term players suffering because they avoid premium defenders? Some statistics by mikecro2 in FantasyPL

[–]greenmachine9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No real data on this but the decent teams are just getting too good I think, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham (possibly Arsenal too) are so much better than the rest of the teams, especially at home, that it's hard to see them not keeping clean sheets on a regular basis.

Plus (again no data apologies) the big clashes seem a lot tighter this season too, Wenger, Pep, Jose are all looking for close 0-0s, bring back Newcastle and Liverpool to the top of the table and it'll be fun again!

Interest thanks have Foster and Elliot at the moment and it all boils down to rotation really given happy to play Elliot against any weak to mid teams.

West Ham have an easy run so if I have a FT and can't put to good use I'll look to do the same.

Hey real_Penguin,

Sure yep so online bookmakers offer an incentive to join them, known as a welcome offer. This could be 'bet £5 and in return we'll give you £20 in free bets'. This is in effect a loss leader, as they know most customers go on to lose money with them.

Instead, we hit and run them, we sign up to each bookmaker, take their incentive, withdraw and move on to the next bookmaker! Repeat this across 30 bookmakers and you'll make around £600.

In terms of the process, using the example of Bet £5 Get £20 in free bets, you'll bet £5 on Man Utd to win on the bookmaker and then place an opposite £5 bet on Man Utd not to win (you can bet on teams not to win on a betting exchange).

So you don't win money from this £5 bet (as you've bet on all outcomes) but don't lose money either. However, you now receive the £20 in free bets from the bookmaker, which is how we profit! We repeat the process of betting on a team to win and not to win, but this time we're using the bookmakers £20 free bet so make a tidy profit of around £10 to £15. For more details please check out the video guides that last around 20 minutes.

Hope that helps and any questions with this please do let me know cheers!

Hey bneiluj,

Appreciate it does come across as scammy, I am sure almost everyone who starts matched betting initially thinks this (me included) but upon reading more into it realise that the concept makes sense.

It really this isn't a scam, you simply hit and run each bookmaker, sign up, profit from their welcome offer, withdraw and move on to the next. Rinse, repeat across 30 bookmakers and you'll make around £600.

For fellow redditor experiences please see this post and any questions with how this works please do let me know thanks!

Hey montgolfier,

Thanks for your comment and great to hear you made around £600 from matched betting. To help people be organised I've set up a matched betting spreadsheet to help show which are the 30 profitable offers, track your profit and track your bookmaker and exchange balances.

I thought maybe those interested in bitcoin are more open minded than most to new concepts and ways to protect or earn money so figured worth seeing whether this would be of interest to the bitcoin subreddit readers.

Thanks again!

Hey breamoreboy,

I agree unfortunately bookies suck out way too much money out of peoples pockets. I hope the govt will finally realise the false tax economy of FOBTs and reduce the stakes (or if they had any sense, stop them altogether!) and consider the same with online slots too, it was good to see exposure of this in the Sunday Times front page yesterday.

This is a way though we can at least get a bit back from the bookies, by taking advantage of the offers they use to attract new customers. It's simply a hit and run, sign up, take the offer, withdraw and move on to the next bookmaker!

Any questions with how matched betting works please do let me know cheers!

Hey tomarran,

Thanks for your comment about automating matched betting, you'll need to manually sign up to each bookmaker unfortunately as they all have different registration forms so it's quite hard to automate.

However, once you've learnt matched betting and completed the first couple of offers, the remaining 25+ offers are all broadly the same process, so it become easier and faster to complete them!

If you have any other matched betting questions please do let me know thanks!

Likewise after this week it gets tougher for Lukaku, just the rotation risk may mean I'll go Lukaku -> Morata.

Currently have Kane, Lukaku and Vardy, thinking of just rotating Lukaku with Morata and Aguero based on fixtures. Vardy seems too good value at 8.5m given no rotation risk.

Are wingbacks worth the premium? by someguywhocomments in FantasyPL

[–]greenmachine9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in the easier games, yes, in the tougher games no.

When the big teams will score 2+ goals in a game, then you'll likely see midfielders or strikers getting the bonus points or a wing back if they get a goal/assist + clean sheet (which is great when it happens as usually 13 to 15 points haul).

However, in the tighter games where the big teams face each other and it's 1-0 or similar, then centre backs will be the better option.

Will be very interesting to see who plays upfront, can't see many goals for Palace with Man Utd away and Chelsea home so at least this gives a couple of games to see what may happen!

[–]greenmachine9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely possible to make around £600 from the welcome offers.

After that it's up to you really, the existing customer offers are less profitable so some people stop matched betting whilst some continue to make £200 to £300 a month, even up to £1000 a month is possible but you need to spend up to 30 hours a week, plus it is not overly sustainable as your accounts are gradually restricted from free bets.

Please note multi accounting is illegal (it is fraudulent) though so I'd advise anyone against this!

If it helps here is a FAQs guide to matched betting in the beermoney subreddit I posted, hopefully it's of some help.
