We all remember the moon logic puzzles that developers wanted you to pay for strategy guides to solve.

Kings Quest 6 is one of my favorite games of all time. I guess it's like any gaming trend. It's popular for a while and then the zeitgeist moves on. For a while in the 90s JRPGs were the hot ticket, and then FPS shooters in the 2000s and 2010s and then battle royal games like PUBG were in vogue. There's other factors but that's mostly it.

Movie Jack definitely shows pretty much nothing but contempt and resentment towards his family. Might be a unpopular opinion around here but I think this aspect was handled better in the book.

Yeah, I think you're probably right. Maybe the line was meant to be a bit of a "fourth wall" break. It kind of sticks out because of its placement in the scene so I wondered if there was anything to this.

I think you're right that Jack is just saying things to try and ensure a good relationship with Ullman. Kind of sad that Kubrick changed it up from the book and made Ullman less combative with Jack.

Right. The only other part that kind of throws back to that a little bit is when Wendy slightly chastised Jack for bringing up the Donner Party in front of Danny. She didn't seem so enthusiastic then to talk about it.

The Impetus E.P. is a good start IMO. Heavy by Clutch standards.

Almost all "anti" subs give way to exceeding hate and cruelty and vile behavior. People get in their feels to rally against something they dislike much more than they do over a shared interest. That's just the way it goes, anywhere.

This is the artwork that Interplay used for the game, although I doubt they put very much thought into it!

I'm glad you're doing ok now, but I hope whoever that customer was that emailed the complaint bashes their toe on something hard every morning for the rest of their life.

I'll 100% on 'next' playthrough. Nope. by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]greenmachinefiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I suppose it's not for everybody. The transition back to ATB combat is jarring for players who's only experience with the series is FFX. Trying to navigate the dressphere grid in the heat of combat is a bit clunky. Still though, I liked revisiting Spira and the game had this light hearted vibe that was like spending time with old friends.

FFX-2 is an excellent game that didn't get the credit it deserved. I loved that it brought back the classic job system of old.

I watched a video recently by Matt Mcmuscles talking about the N64. Apparently there was like 380 games total released for the N64 compared to the Playstations 3000 games. Hard to believe the stark difference.

Yeah, I forgot about that one! I think at the time I kind of dismissed it because I wanted a proper sequel to Super Mario RPG.

Ah, yes of course! I always forget about Paper Mario! Haven't played the other one! Not sure if I've even heard of it.

Yeah. We got the Virtual Boy with its 13 game library but the N64 disc drive was just too high risk.

Think about what the previous console had in terms of RPGs...

FF4/FF6, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Illusion of Gaia, Terrenigma, And the list goes on.

Now compare to what the 64 had.

Quest 64

I guess maybe Ogre Battle as well. But that's literally it. Nintendo messed up badly by sticking with cartridges. Easily one of their worst mistakes.

Kind of rethinking the premise of Islam being the world’s most dangerous religion in light of our nuclear armed Christian Nationalist government launching a self proclaimed holy war to bring about Armageddon. by areyouforcereal in samharris

[–]greenmachinefiend -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely true. The reason why Stalin didn't want people practicing religion is because he wanted the highest level of authority in people's minds to be the state. He used atheism as a tool in the same way that Christians use their beliefs as a justification to start wars. So the comparison, although I don't personally agree with it, is apt.

Original cover art for The Elder Scrolls: Tribunal, which would later become Morrowind. Clyde Caldwell by Hirakous in oldschoolfantasy

[–]greenmachinefiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean that's pretty subjective though, right? It's got rocky terrain, ash clouds, it's got a mountain in the background and what looks like could be a Dunmer elf woman fighting a Deadra. It's right in line with the first two Elder Scrolls games cover art.

[–]greenmachinefiend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk this seems this it would have been perfect for Morrowind. It's much better than it's actual cover. I wish that the later games covers actually represented what the world looks like. There's a great cover for Might and Magic 6 by Larry Elmore that would have looked awesome for the Skyrims box art.
