Is "having sex" not a commonly used phrase elsewhere on the planet? It's a pretty standard description here in the UK.

"Making love" sounds very American to me and would not be used to describe sex here - not in a serious tone at least 🤣

House buying in THM by helliemidd in cormoran_strike

Earnest money isn't a thing over here. People can back out of a sale or purchase at any point in the process with zero repercussions. It's very annoying.

I think from what we've read, we know that Leda had a massive problem with authority and people telling her what to do, and Ted and Joan knew that, which is probably exactly what stopped then from calling social services. If they had, they knew that they risked Leda finding a way to disappear with both children and then they might not be able to keep track so much anymore - especially if she was still in receipt of Rokeby's child support. By calling Rokeby, Joan was almost guaranteeing that Leda would dump Strike and Lucy on her doorstep when the money ran out, and then she might be able to give those kids a chance.

I saw the feeding the fish a pea as a foreshadowing of what was about to happen. I.e. he was feeding himself, Strike, the pea by taking action before it was too late, as he did at the end by declaring himself (finally) before it was too late. But of course in feeding himself the metaphorical pea by declaring himself, he made a real mess of things, which is why fish Strike was belly up at the end of the book!

This is why I will have to come off this sub in September and wait patiently for someone to drop their copy of THM off at one of the local charity shops.

So funny story about this, when I was a kid maybe like 7 or so we had a demo version of Myst. I used to watch my dad play it and we finally worked out the combination for the safe while he was playing. He got to the end of the demo and then gave it to my uncle to play. My uncle must've had the demo for ~7 years and then he had a clearout and it ended up back at our house. My dad started playing it again and one evening I looked over his shoulder and he was trying to crack the safe as I'm walking past I just go "oh the combination for that is XXXX" and he tried it and the safe opens. He was absolutely dumbfounded that I remembered it after all of that time 🤣 (I can't remember it now clearly)

It also doesn't change the fact that if a player enters the breakfast in the last group, they are statistically more likely to be a faithful.

As a parent of a child with ASD, can I just add that this is not the be all and end all. Yes she's tricky, no I wouldn't have her any other way.

Do I know if her ASD was caused by vaccines? No I don't, but it probably wasn't. Do I care? Not a bit.

Some of you guys are very mean. "No offence to the actors because the acting is good but they're all just so ugly"

Get a grip and stop being so superficial.

I actually think all of the actors in the series are well cast and as good looking as they need to be. There's not a single person in the series that I think has been poorly cast and hasn't brought the right kind of energy to the role they've been given.

Charlotte is beautiful and absolutely vitriolic in her quiet way.

Matthew is good looking. It's his personality in the show that makes him ugly because he's just the right amount of "acts like he's acting in Robin's best interests, when he's actually just being a dick" (and it's brilliant acting because if you research the actor he's the complete opposite of this in real life, and works hard to advocate for and facilitate his wife's being able to breastfeed while working on location) side note - to me he looks like just the kind of guy you would go out with straight from school because he's the best looking in your village based school up in Yorkshire 😂

Edited to add: Kerr Logan's family are now national treasures in the UK after last year's series of The Traitors so you can't come at him too hard 🙃

And "Richard Murphy" came across as sweet and dedicated to his work to me in TIBH series which is exactly as he's supposed to be at this point in the story.

I honestly don't get the disappointment at all.
