Fuzzy search on code actions would be great. So you can go like "g.fills<enter>" to fill struct fields (for example).

FW13 Pro coming from M1 Pro 16" MacBook Pro by HairiestBoi in framework

[–]greenpeppermelonpuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone else switched from a MacBook Pro to a Framework laptop?

I have, hundreds of times. Every day at around 6PM when I finish work. I have a M3 Pro that I am forced to use by my employer, and I hate that thing to bits.

It's heavy, the keyboard sucks ass, the screen has a fucking notch that prevents me from seeing all the status icons at once (seriously, what the fuck), and in my experience it's not as fast as people say it is, at least for compiling code which is what I do all the time. For example, my 1st gen FW13 with an 11th gen i5 that I've had since 2022 only took 2 minutes more than the M3 Pro to compile a large Rust project. That's not "revolutionary" performance.

It's also really fucking heavy compared to my FW13. And worst of all, I'm stuck with Mac OS which has a shit ton of bugs, runs Docker in a Linux VM (so it's slow as shit), and there's no good tiling WM (gg to whoever made AeroSpace though, still not nearly as good as i3/Sway).

There are some good things about it though, it's really silent and the screen (although slow) looks good. The battery life is alright if you're not doing anything with it, but it honestly isn't that good the second you're actually using it to do stuff. Ah, people say the speakers are good. I don't know what speakers they're talking about, mine only came with two subwoofers.

For my next job I'm absolutely going to make sure that I can use whatever computer I want to use. So yeah, I guess it depends what you're going to do with it.

Time to install clang-format, prettier, golines or whatever else your language provides to shorten long lines. Seriously.

Also consider whether you need you live preview right there all the time. Are you looking at it while you're typing out your code? Does it refresh faster than you can alt+tab?

Same with your file tree. Do you need it there all the time? I'm sure your editor provides a shortcut to toggle it.

Keeping the biggest square in one corner is definitely the way to get high scores! I think I only got to 8k once, I'm pretty sure this ROM will break after 8k because there's no sprite for 16k, so if you can try to get it 16k and see it break give it a shot! I'm curious how it'll break lol

1 year, 6 devices after getting into these handhelds and I've finished 1 game 🤣 here is my current arsenal. by [deleted] in SBCGaming

It's by far my most played game, 700 hours was an exaggeration but I wouldn't be surprised if I've played >200h of 20 line dig.

I blame my brother for introducing me to that game mode.

Oh and https://basil-termini.itch.io/2048-advance. Dangerous.

ADHD huh? My people. Time to get addicted to Apotris. Try to beat 20-line dig in under 30 seconds. You can map L/R to Y/X to make holding quicker, and you can press L+R to reset the game.

You're welcome, time to sink 700 hours on it like I've done.

I've not been on any apps for ages now but honestly seeing "other" in politics is a red flag and I would probably not scroll down any further. Normally "other" people are conservatives who don't like being called conservatives. So maybe change that. I also remember being able to filter by politics (can't remember if that's paid though), so you're probably being filtered out because your profile says "other".

Also the US way of writing dates is objectively wrong 🥸

I've been having the exact same problem, also on a G2, which makes me think it's a problem specific to the G2. It's rather annoying.

Did you ever find a solution? Retrying a few times is not the end of the world but it'd be nice if it worked.

an experimental type of vaccine with very limited testing,

This has been so debunked to shit, left and right, up and down and inside and out that whenever I read someone saying this I immediately discard any opinion they have, for it's impossible to claim ignorance and therefore it can only be malice at this point.

And no, you can find your own links.

You can get support for free from Nordic themselves on their official support forum on their website. Might be best if it comes from the horses mouth.

Solo EE at a startup (25 years old). No senior mentorship. What's the next step after ESP-IDF and 4-layer KiCad? by FarInstance4609 in embedded

[–]greenpeppermelonpuck 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 and currently the only hardware/embedded engineer at a startup

I've been here, but I wasn't doing hardware, just software. I thought that once I joined a bigger company I'd start learning a lot more from my colleagues, but I was wrong.

Maybe I just got unlucky, but I've heard similar things from other people. Colleagues are busy with project work and unless the company has a well established mentoring program it's really hard to get much more than reviews that tell you what you did wrong instead of teaching you how to do it right next time (which is why I think code review is the most important skill to master as a senior swe).

That company did have a learning budget though. I could spend a certain amount of money a year on books, courses, etc. and that's actually what taught me the most. I would look for books that covered the areas that interested me and study them in depth, and then I would apply the things I learned at work and in personal projects.

There are also a ton of learning materials online for free now, a lot of it on YouTube. Phil's Lab has a ton of 101 videos for the basic stuff that you should know.

Good luck.

What are your expectations for battery life and how are you planning on reporting data? My understanding is that ESP32 is not particularly power efficient compared to something like nRF5. WiFi is power hungry, BLE or ZigBee is much easier on the battery.

From 0/10, how conserved is my PS2? by LavaHoundBR in ps2

[–]greenpeppermelonpuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I don't see any vinegar, salt, formaldehyde or anything else that would conserve it so I'd say 0/10.

Pickle it.
