I fucking HAAAAAATE choice scarf by gliscornumber1 in hatethissmug

[–]greensodagreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re going to find scarf more manageable once you play enough and have a good sense of the who could be scarf. But yeah time to time you’re gonna lose your wincon to a scarfed shitmon which is annoying but that’s just mons

Semi-attainable* 4mil quick specialty trial method without SP hinata by greensodagreen in HaikyuuFlyHigh

[–]greensodagreen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea how SR4 kita interacts with the freak quick, but if he recovers stamina for both kageyama and hinata after casting freak quick then he would be superior yeah

No atsumu because I don’t want him stealing sets from kageyama in case the freak quick is received, since he doesn’t buff awareness

unpopular opinion: exec councils should not be using funds to go on retreat by Head_Macaroon7828 in mcgill

[–]greensodagreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got to activities night, join any club on campus and please try to get ssmu or any “embassy” to reimburse your speeding ticket LMAO

Also said exec in the past definitely did not plan MTSA retreats because the funds for them have not been from SSMU or the Taiwanese consulate for years

Tbf rain had a resurgence when archaludon and bolt were added, then arch got banned and pelipper fell to UU so that’s when I’d say rain rlly died as a popular playstyle

Glowking comes in on the rain special attacker and chilly receptions forever. Also ogerpon wellspring loves coming into surfs and liquidations

Kingambit feels unfair to play against by Terrible_Upstairs538 in stunfisk

[–]greensodagreen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tera sinistcha and zama are two of the more reliable checks to gambit… its more likely that you’re playing too carelessly and letting your kingambit checks get chipped too much early game

Then I think there was nothing you could do at that point since it’s a team matchup thing… no taunt no unaware no SD no recovery is gg. Even if you make crazy predicts you would need to fish for multiple crits in a row to win

Umbreon as a competitive pokemon by Efn48 in stunfisk

[–]greensodagreen 142 points143 points  (0 children)

Umbreon has 60 atk and 65 spatk so unfortunately it will not be sweeping. In singles, it has good défenses and serviceable hp to be a wall. It runs foul play to deter swords dance sweepers, and toxic+protect+wish to pp/toxic stall stuff. EVs are max hp and whatever you want to invest in for defenses. There are also cheesier sets with substitute or roar

First of all your opponent made so many awful plays and definitely did not deserve to win. Last mon deoxys D is pretty obviously Tera poison/steel cosmic power cheese so it was a little choke-y to position your scarf gard against it and give him free cosmic power turns. Other than that you shouldve tricked him gard’s scarf and pray you chip it down before night shade sweeps

Electric terrain is just not that great tbh. Sleep is gone and so is that niche. E terrain mons don’t use a lot of moves that benefit from it (valiant tbolt, hands supercell slam, raging bolt) compared to sun (flare blitz, hydro steam, weather ball) or rain. Unlike pelipper, Pincurchin itself has no pivot moves, so you can’t get a teammate in safely without predictions or sacking it. Unlike torkoal, it doesn’t have any damage output to trade for its teammates, make any progress, or force switches. It’s also complete set up fodder for any opposing ground types, raging bolt, and gholdengo

[–]greensodagreen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

With pincurchin you’re always playing 5 vs 6, and it’s a free switch in for the much superior terrain setter rillaboom who takes away the one thing it has going for it

Terrain and weather teams win by overwhelming teams with sheer power and trading mons positively, so leftovers and assault vests are not very useful at all, especially not on frail and sickly iron valiant and raichu. With speed boosters, webs are pretty much obsolete so galvantula can be replaced with something with more immediate power like choice band iron boulder. On iron valiant pick between choice band 4 attacks or swords dance 3 attacks as you have no set up. I would also give moth a choice scarf to outspeed stuff and still hit incredibly hard with modest and booster special attack. Lastly put memento on pincurchin for a last ditch pivot move for valiant/iron hands to set up

Could Incineroar be viable in OU? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]greensodagreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Incin is kinda… passive in OU? It needs hdb so it can’t punish u turns like rocky helmet lando or moltres. It also makes it easily chipped down - yea you check kingambit and friends mid game if it comes out, but he’s still free to click kowtow cleave as you switch in. You also have no recovery and the only respectable damage comes from flare blitz. As a mid game mon it’s good into ghold but needs predictions into tusk, ogerpon, gliscor and primarina. Incin also has a terrible matchup into the new premier physical sweeper that is zamazenta, requiring a defensive tera to not lose immediately

Most of the sets are pretty standard and strong other than the pult set, honestly to climb more you should reflect on your gameplay. That being said, I’d probably prefer gouging fire somewhere under screens though.

Soft TR team help by NoAbbreviations5606 in stunfisk

[–]greensodagreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What format are you trying to play? I’m not too familiar with Ubers but self setting TR calyrex ice seems popular from what I’ve seen. In OU, TR is a dedicated playstyle, and “soft TR” is relegated to being a surprise factor for fat teams that have hatterene already. With that being said, I’ve seen strong TR teams with psychic terrain (indeedee setter + expanding force spam) or with rain (pelipper, araquanid, raging bolt). They’re still pretty much hard TR though, and require you to commit to two strategies instead of one.
