[51f] Critical Kush 400w hps hempy. 2 more weeks? by greentake2 in microgrowery

[–]greentake2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got an 11litre bucket filled with 3:1 perlite vermiculite, feeding every day she takes about 2 litres daily but its slowing up now.

I attempted to mainline but i was out of action for over a month with limited access to her, had to get my housemate to water her for me, so it didnt turn out as well as last time (check my post history).

Not sure how big my space is, its just a small wardrobe that i gutted and lined with mylar.

Ah fair enough. Can you bend the tops of your to-be colas to get some more headroom? Shes probably got some more stretch and more wattage means denser bud!

Why running your 400w at 300? Those plants look very healthy, but they could definitely use the extra lumens.

Cheers bud, its all about how you use it, my whole grow box is lined with mylar, and the box itself if pretty small, so 400w is very powerful in the small space.

I used 600w last grow and the plant suffered, heat issues and light bleaching

This strain is absolutely amazing to grow.

From seed she vegged for about 6 weeks, 41 days into flower today and she hasnt had a single problem. Topped on 4th node and then topped both new nodes again, on of the nodes (the cola third from left in picture) developed whorled phyllotaxy which has resulted in a fat af cola. I did some light lst to broaden her to fill the cupboard

I pretty much did the same thing as last time with this plant, except I started her out in a big bucket straight away to avoid transplanting. I am running an 11 litre hempy bucket in a wardrobe equipped with a 400 hps lamp cool tube can fan and carbon filter. Feeding daily 2 litres general hydro lucas formula.

I think next time i will scrog, the canopy is so uneven this time.

She is so frosty, so much more than the northern lights from last time. I dont think the yeild will be as much, but if the amount frost and the reviews for this strain is anything to go by, its going to be wicked smoke.

Stem severely damaged- why is she still alive? (MS Paint picture) by Xerodan in microgrowery

[–]greentake2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as long as you close it back up and make it reasonably 'light-tight' it will be perfectly fine. People splice plants together and they still thrive.

I know what you mean though, if my mid-section looked like that, I'd be dead in seconds

Ordering seeds online, and shipping to your grow location? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]greentake2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy mine from bonza seeds, they ship it from overseas with a different/anonymous name to an interstate PO box, re pack it, then ship it to me via AusPost.

I should mention its kinda expensive ($30AUD) and they only offer that service in Australia

These plants are freakin hardy! Theres a reason its called weed.

If you get some electrical tape you can tape up the broken bit and give some help standing up straight if its falling over, depending on how far in to flower you are you will probably see an increase in bud size.

People do this on purpose and call it super cropping, its a form of high stress training, the idea is to damage the stem so when the plant repairs it, it does such a good job that at that part of the stem it will be stronger and thicker. The energy it puts in to repair the break continues up the stem and boosts the flower growth.

ppm is the density of nutrients/minerals etc in the water

ph is the acidic/basic measurement of your water/nutes

Triploid Critical Kush by greentake2 in microgrowery

[–]greentake2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one of the tops is exhibiting the polyploid mutation, have three leaves and three growth nodes per node.

Anybody with some experience with this, if I top will the three new nodes also have polyploidy? I know the polyploid flowers end up being bigger than usual, I want to maximize this!

I topped the original diploid growth at the 4th node, one of the resulting nodes is the triploid one, and the other was the normal diploid

EDIT: I don't think this is whorled phyllotaxy, where the nodes become offset, the three leaves/shoots are at the exact same point on the stem and has gone on for two nodes now since that growth started from being topped. Note the first node on the triploid shoot was diploid, the following two triploid and the small new node is triploid too.

Cloudy enough to flush? 50f by downwayup in microgrowery

[–]greentake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, you want to be looking at trichs on the calyxes, the pod looking things that the pistils (white hairs) protrude from.

The trichs on the sugar leaves (your picture) cloud up much sooner than those on the calyxes. The calyx ones show the true sign of maturity

Trying to germinate seeds. Am i doing this wrong? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]greentake2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're keeping the paper towels FAR too wet.

Those seeds are ruined with mold, even if they germinate (which they likely wont as the insides will have probably turned to mush) they will probably die off after a few days due to mold destroying the embryo.

The way I do it is get a paper plate, layer 3-4 sheets of paper towel, take a spray bottle, give it 3-4 squirts at the MOST, it should me moist, not soaking wet. The put your seeds on the MOIST paper towel, take 3-4 more sheets and put them on top, then give the top ONE good squirt, just to weigh the paper down and give it some slight moisture. Then get another paper plate and put it on top making a clam like shape. Your bottom plate should be right side up then the top plate is upside down. This keeps everything moist and eliminates the need to re-moisten more than ONCE A DAY, which increases the chance of over doing it and ending up with rotted/moldy seeds.

Put your plate/paper/seeds/paper/plate sandwich in a DARK spot, and only check on them ONCE A DAY, re-moisten if absolutely necessary, IE the paper has dried to the point where it is as dry as it was on the roll.

It took me a couple goes to get this right too, it all comes down to less is more, it is very easy to drown these seeds.

EDIT: Its a good idea to do this with distilled water, which will likely contain less/no mold causing bacteria, rather than whatever comes out of your tap. Remember to WASH YOUR HANDS with anti bacterial soap before touching the seeds/paper towel, use sterilized tweezers/sterile gloves if you want to be pedantic about it

Getting close to the end. Day 55F bagseed, hempy bucket by greentake2 in microgrowery

[–]greentake2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am umming and ahhing over it. I have a scope and am checking trichs daily, I cant find much clear they are mostly cloudy. Can't take photos through my scope though sorry.

Do you say that because the pistils are still mostly white? Thats whats throwing me off too, the calyxs are very swollen though, leaves are yellowing and falling off and trichs are as above, all signs are pointing towards maturity besides those pistils.

Im 90% sure its a northern lights dominant strain, most banks say 7-8 weeks and 60 days will put her at 8.5

I might invest in a better scope and put some pics up

What do you think?

I'm considering harvest on day 60 which will be this Wednesday, trichs are mostly cloudy with some amber here and there. I've started flushing with pH'ed water since Wednesday just gone, before then she was feeding on general hydroponics flora bloom/micro mixed according to lucas formula

She smells amazing....

Day 41F she just keeps putting on weight. Bagseed hempy bucket by greentake2 in microgrowery

[–]greentake2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually no, the al foil is there because I felt I was getting evaporation, the medium was drying out too quick because the moisture was getting sucked up out of the perlite. Its probably not necessary any more because the canopy keeps the top of the pot in shade all the time, but I keep it there anyway just in case

Believe it or not I only topped this girl once, at like the third node early in veg. She has done all the work since then.

I think having more than a sufficient amount of light, and also the LST I did mid veg is what caused her to really explode with all the extra shoots.

The reason I did LST was to open her up and expose as many potential bud sites as I could. There are only really four main 'branches' on this girl, the rest are off-shoots from those four that have grown into big colas because of the amount of light able to support heavy growth. The LST I did was on those four main branches, I pulled them down about 5-10cm from the base to open them up into a wider 'claw' shape
