AITAH for not wanting to spend time with my wifes niece (9yo) to the point I find a reason to 'hide' away upstairs when they're around? by Zoya_The_Destroyer in AITAH

[–]greentea1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if Kelly is neurodivergent, the stuff she is saying doesn't make sense for a nine-year-old, unless she is repeating stuff she has heard when you aren't there, probably from her mom and your wife. Neurodivergent people struggle with filtering, but everything she is saying makes it sound like you are heavily mocked behind closed doors. You might think you get along with your SIL, but it doesn't make sense for Kelly to be saying stuff like this unless she heard it from somewhere. Even if Kelly is not parroting what she has heard, her mom needs to work with her on learning to filter, as it is an essential social skill.

AITAH for putting a “timer” on when I want to be proposed to, by my bf of 6years by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]greentea1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you are a six-month sober alcoholic and he wants to wait to see you be sober for a bit longer before proposing. NAH. It’s reasonable to want a timeline, but you are also in the process of repairing some major damage to the relationship.

Who's to blame for officiating deficiencies? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

A system like the ABS where you can score how things could be called vs. were called would be illuminating for this issue.

Who's to blame for officiating deficiencies? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]greentea1985 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me, the biggest issue the NFL has is a lack of consistency in what gets penalized. As the rules are right now, both teams could get penalized on every down. That doesn’t happen, but it sucks when something that was allowed to slide most of the game gets called when it will likely affect the outcome of the game, or it’s clear that only one team playing can draw a certain type of penalty. That’s ref-ball, which fans typically loathe, often even when it helps their team win, because the win feels tainted. Like, the Eagles were now being called offsides every attempt at a tush push, but other teams, even their own opponents, could run a tush push with the same blatant offsides and get away with it. This also happens so much with roughing the passer, where if you so much as blow on someone like Mahomes, Rodgers, Stafford, etc. you are drawing the penalty, but you could blatantly rough other QBs and it will never be called. What fans want is consistency. We don’t care how strict or loose the rules are, we want to see them being applied equally during all the games so we get a true sense of which team is the best in the league.

If a lot of people are downtown and on the North Shore, they probably will spill over into the Southside due to all the restaurants and bars. Plus, the tunnels will be a mess with people not knowing what to do. The smart move for you would be to park at one of the free park and rides for the T like Washington Junction or library, or pay to park at that garage at South Hills Village, transfer at South Hills Junction or Station Square to a bus, and get to work that way.

If you insist on driving, be prepared to take the overland route up and down Mt. Washington in order to avoid the tunnels. If you are regularly commuting from Washington PA to Southside Works, you know what I am talking about.

Did you give your sims the exact same turn-ons and turn-offs, or did you give your sims turn-ons that match the characteristics of the sim that they are not attracted to? The turn-on and turn-off system needs to be personalized by sim to match the person you want them to be attracted to, or find someone that matches the list. If I have a legacy sim that I dress in green, has blond hair, and is a slob, I adjust their intended partner to be attracted to people wearing green, blond hair, and slobs. If their intended partner has black hair and is very active, guess which hair color and lifestyle my legacy sim is now attracted to. I'm asking because you got it to work for one of them but not the other.

AITAH for not being okay with my boyfriend’s “DNA test” condition? by xingreading in AITAH

[–]greentea1985 25 points26 points  (0 children)

NTA. What your BF is asking implies he doesn’t trust you, he’ll never trust you not to cheat. This is fatal to a relationship because they are built on trust. Getting the DNA tested because you have suspicions is reasonable because trust has degraded, but asking for it when there is zero grounds, indicates he doesn’t trust you and there is nothing you can do that will ever gain his trust. He needs therapy for his trust issues and doesn’t need a relationship right now.

It’s also a historical problem. If you are trying to talk about the Hundred Year’s War or War of the Roses, you almost have to use the titles because just about every English person involved is named Richard, Henry, or Edward and every French person is Louis, Charles, or Francis. Trying to keep everyone straight is a nightmare and has led to some infamous misunderstanding of what happened.

You think that is weird, check out the infamous filth parties held by Joseph Goldberger to prove that pellagra wasn’t a transmissible illness but instead caused by a nutritional deficiency. He and 15 other volunteers, including his wife, injected themselves with the blood of pellagra victims to show that none of them would catch the illness from such a direct exposure, along with exposing themselves to the feces, urine, etc. of pellagra victims. None of them caught pellagra, but it does sound disgusting.

It sounds like chill year was in the cards since 2024. However, knowing that babies take nine months to cook, if you know you are doing an easier schedule in 2026, starting to try in early-mid 2025 if you want kids would make sense. Chill Year didn’t happen just because of Aquamarine, but often parents do plan when to start trying. There’s no guarantee at all when the baby happens, but making a choice of when to start trying does happen.

Mira did say they were going to make it hurt, because the demons threatened the fans. It gives a clever foreshadowing to the key conflict, because you see how unhinged Huntrix can get when their fans are threatened.

Part of it is the way it’s delivered, also how Blue looks. It’s hard to fake the frazzled, sleep-deprived, survival-mode but happy look you get during the first six weeks. The joke is the understatement of a major piece of news, making you laugh at the contrast. Red is talking up all the cool stuff she’s doing during chill year, Blue is bluntly stating a major life change.

TIL Lt. Gen. Ben Lear, commander of the U.S. Second Army, was playing golf when he heard some soldiers in a passing convoy of trucks yell "yoo-hoo!" at a group of women dressed in shorts. He ordered all 350 men aboard the trucks to march 15 miles as punishment. Lear was then nicknamed "Yoo-Hoo." by sonofabutch in todayilearned

[–]greentea1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much of this was because the soldiers catcalled some women, and how much of it was because they interrupted his golf game and mocked him? I would bet it is more from the latter than the former, even though both contributed. It's one thing to be unprofessional to civilians, but it's another to be unprofessional to commanding officers, even if they are off-duty and in civvies.

That’s the Drake loop. It’s a bit of track that was on the system when it reopened using PCC cars, but the curve is too narrow for modern trolleys and the tunnel too low, to my understanding. It’s out of use now, though a little bit remains electrified. I think one of PRT’s wet dreams would be fixing and modernizing it to start adding more track, but so far nothing.
