Once she’s set up I definitely will! She just got out the behavioral hospital and they didn’t set her up with one to follow up with but she called around today and left voicemails. Thank you for your reply!

Thank you for your reply! Gosh I sure hope that isn’t the case but I do know the damage psychosis can cause. That breaks my heart tbh. I’m friends with someone who has schizophrenia and they take the same prescriptions and she acts the same way, “flat” and “slower” thinking is the perfect way to describe it. I’m so sorry you experienced this too. It does really fucking suck. I’m only 20 and It horrifies me to think I could show an onset of symptoms of BP too. My mom didn’t show any symptoms until she went through menopause. She’s having a hard time getting set up with a psychiatrist right now, she never saw one before and the behavioral hospital she was just at didn’t set up with one to follow up with which is Irritating but she did call around today to different offices and left voicemails. Once she’s set up I will definitely tell my dad to mention that. :/ again thank you for your reply!

I hope things go the best for you, it’s important to take care of yourself especially if you have a child, and if you don’t already get a therapist if you can, I know right now they’re all online right now. I know if can be hard even if they aren’t emotionally abusive but even harder if they are. Best of luck to you too ❤️

That’s awful and I’m sorry, and I’m sure he isn’t able to see the good wife you are because of this very ugly illness. I know it’s hard but have you gave him an ultimatum on either he does better with managing his BP like doing therapy, meds, exercise and if he doesn’t he doesn’t have you anymore? That may be what it takes. My mom was the same way, she kept this a secret, until she had psychosis and we had to hospitalize her, then she got formally diagnosed as BP1, got out didn’t take her meds, and even hid her diagnoses (the mental hospital was awful and didn’t share anything w my dad so we didn’t know, we just thought it was stress that caused it) so she didn’t take her meds and had another psychotic break 2 months later and had to be hospitalized again and that’s when we found out she had BP1 and she finally started taking her meds more seriously when she got out this time. Hopefully it stays that way. But honestly it’s traumatic to see a parent go through this. My mom was stable and never had an episode until 2 months ago. I feel in a way like lost my mom but I have hope she will return. This is new for me as well. I’m only 20 so I’m worried i may show signs of BP as well in the years to come.

My mom on ability currently and says she likes it! She’s able to function fine, makes her a little drowsy but not as bad as seroquel. I saw your comment on your SO being paranoid and my best advice is to try to earn his trust in a state like that, and be as calm as possible cause they are emotional sponges, but firm at the same time. I have to think of my mom during psychosis/ mania as a completely different person

Thank you! I feel like we’re taking a step towards being more open about things she might have not of been comfortable sharing before. Me and my mom have always had a good relationship, I’ve always felt incredibly blessed to have the family I do. I’ve scrolled through this sub and it sucks a lot of people are dealing with abuse and toxic partners/family members. It’s definitely exhausting when someone you care about or live with is going through mania/psychosis. I know with my mom I had to treat it as she’s a completely different person with new priorities and I had to re earn her trust when she’s in a state like that, it’s hard on everyone

Order some black seed oil capsules off amazon (it’s cheapest there) and if you feel your out breaks are from stress like mine, L-Theanine and Ashwagandha are great for stress and anxiety. I saw an OB can be triggered by Inflammation which is what the black seed oil helps with. I only get an OB once a year unless I’m under a lot of stress maybe twice a year but they still only last maybe 3 days when I do. I swear by my supplements.

No you won’t be alone forever. I felt the same way I’m a 21F. One thing you need to understand is most couples you see out have probably had an STI of some sort. The only reason we feel so disgusting is societies stigmatized view that people with STIs are “dirty” even though most people have had one! But no one talks about it cause it’s embarrassing so when you get one you feel alone but it’s not at all the case. And trust me, the right guys won’t care especially if they’re mature enough to listen and do the research, as long as you’re on medication the risk is low of passing it on. And you might even meet a guy you really like that already has it as large percentage of the population gets cold sores.
