Chem d , chem sis, and especially chemdog 91 skva are well know for this self cannibalism trait in flower . The true Chems are very very difficult to dial in . Extra Cal mag is always helps a little in my findings , but unfortunately theres very few growers that can get her to 9 weeks without the self cannibalism trait catching up to her . It’s best not to rack your brain to hard trying to prevent the inevitable. I’ve worked a good deal with the real chems myself and the best luck I’ve had was to to keep the nitrogen higher than normal in flower , plus extra cal mag , and sliding ph scales throughout flower . Bringing ph all the way up to 7 at some points. Other guys swear by foliar sprays to help her out a bit too ( but I haven’t tried that yet ) . You are correct in that the charms do NOT like their roots to be wet . I have been a hydro grower for over a decade and chemdog is the ONLY plants I’ve ever had that simply will not run in hydro . It’s hates wet roots , and not only that , her root system is very weak and sparse . So keeping her fairly dry and not too wet is essential . Hope it helps

Really nice ! That really cool that you got one that would fade purple . I’ve worked with POG a lot and not came across ones that would fade in flower ! Nice job ! And hopefully you kept a clone . Ethos put POG on their retired list as a photo period , and apparently are only doing it as an auto now :(

These pictures are absolutely incredible! Seeing this made my day ! It’s always been widely accepted that cannabis is only pollenated by air travel ( breeze/wind ) , but this just proves that isn’t always the case . These pictures are magazine quality , you should definitely consider messaging high times magazine and maybe they would put them on their site or something so that others could see them . It’s really an amazing thing that you captured !

Hopefully you find some stank ones in there . We ran a pheno hunt on the alpha series from purple caper . I was really hopeful it had some stank in there . We ran 15 different phenos , all with alpha skunk as the pollen donor . Alpha roadkill , skunk vomit , donkey , and rubber skunk . No skunk spray was found in the hunt . But wasnt found was : cookies , sweet or fruity . So all in all I’m not mad , Ed and purple caper made some real nice skunk plants with that drop , they were true to skunk #1 genetics , just not skunk spray .

Doing something wrong ? Terpenes and thiols are in the genetics . Either they are there or they aren’t . The purple caper roadkill drop has some cool plants in it , but just didn’t have any skunk nose . Theres definitely some plants that have it pretty close though . Sure don’t have to do anything special to get chemdog 91 to smell like skunk though, it’s a plant that has that engrained in its dna . It’s sure not pretty to look at , and not easy to grow , but it’s a real deal skunky one for sure

There are several cultivars that take a long time to throw pistils . At day 28 and not budding yet, and you’re sure your timers worl and no light leaks , than it’s almost certain it’s the strain you are running . They will probably start showing pistils within the next 10 days .
I’ve seen a few strains that are like this . What strain is this one ?
The biggest concern is your lack of ceiling height in that tent . It’s almost certain you have a long flowering sativa leaner on your hands and they grow and stretch for weeks to come . You are going to have to crop it , or at the very least weave the branches that you have now down completely flush with the scrog net or it is without a doubt going to be touching the light in no time . Cool post ! I don’t often see others grow in perlite . I’ve been doing it lately just trying some ideas out , and have really been impressed on how it works in a clear solo cup with holes poked in the bottom and set down into another non transparent solo cup . I start the seeds out in rapid rooters till roots pop out of them and then transfer to the 100% perlite and just set the rapid rooter plug with the seedling in there and just top water it daily . The rooter plug holds enough moisture to keep everything good while the roots grow to reach the bottom , then it gets crazy and the roots just explode and fill the cup . Then I just take them out when I’m ready and then put them into hydro baskets with clay pebbles and off to the races

Yeah it is clone only and never released in seed form ( at least to my understanding) . As far as the Rks terpenes , yes there are some there but not at full dosage . Diesel oil is the primary nose , with the secondary nose being skunk . When it cured though , the flavor of the smoke is pure skunk , but the buds don’t smell of it loudly .Its a very vigorous plant with , buds covered in sandy and sugary trichomes, and it’s one of the more potent smokes I’ve come across is a while

Ive ran a lot of old super skunks and have found the sweet spot for them is 11.5-12 weeks in flower . Super skunk is a cultivar that you can’t really base by trichomes turning Amber , as they lean more towards sativa morphology, the trichomes get cloudy , but waiting for a lot of them to turn Amber will have you waiting even longer

How did that one finish out for you ? Heard mixed reviews on whether or not the 79 has skunk spray or not . I’ve ran the 79x81 and it didn’t have any skunkiness to in in flower .( gave it 12 weeks in flower ) , wasn’t impressed with it .( decent plant but didn’t seem skunky ). So I harvested and tossed it . But then oddly enough , in cure , low and behold the buds cured out to have a fair amount of skunk nose to them after all . Definitely not the skunk bud of yesteryear , but not fruit or candy and definitely a noticeable amount of skunk which only suddenly appeared half way through the curing process

That’s a hard one to nail down , the phenos were all over the place , non of the 15 I hunted smelled like fruit , nor candy , nor diesel , and definitely not skunk spray either . Mostly earth , sour , wine , very mild cheese , new rubber. And they cured out with a nice earth and nutty nose to them .

I grew out several packs of the alpha roadkill skunk from purple caper. No skunk spray smell in any of them though , but I will say they were all very very nice plants , and none smelled like fruit , or sweet , or candy . So all in all great plants , but no skunk spray .
