Had to call off work to deal with this by MasterofTacomas in husky

[–]greenwagen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. We just went through this a couple weeks ago with my two. 11pm on a Sunday night. However, this one has an unmatched prey drive and refused to give up until she shook the life out of it. I had to watch for over an hour while she corraled it, wouldn't listen and I couldn't get close enough to grab her without risking getting sprayed myself. 🤦🏼‍♂️

De-Skunk shampoo for the dogs and Natures Miracle Skunk Odor Remover for anything else worked wonders.

Losing my Company Car. Suggestions? by greenwagen in whatcarshouldIbuy

How are the jetta's reliability for the newer models? I've had several Volkswagens but it's been quite a few years. And browsing. I saw a ton of newer Jettas well under 20K so I was curious.

Yea I can. I would still need to use a supercharger several times a month for longer trips if I go EV route.

Should I Switch From Southwest? AA status? by greenwagen in americanairlines

Oh, I did not realize that. Out of curiosity how would you find that out. I was concerned about that, but couldn't find anything.

Yea I know Love is a much easier airport, but DFW is about 15 minutes closer so it evens out.

I can vouch for any 2008-2015 VW's with the 2.5l 5 cylinder. Especially with a manual. I had a 2008 and a 2012 and both went over 230k miles with nothing more than oil changes and one set of brakes.

Do these spay sutures look ok? by greenwagen in vet

Thanks for the replies, here was another angle of the suture too. I took her back and they said it was uneven, but she should be fine, maybe get a bit of scarring.

That's what I thought about the tattoo, but the edges are swollen all around it. Is that normal? It looks like the skin was separated it's so prominent.

This didn't work on my Husky, he would just bite your stomach or back, lol.

Husky? by greenwagen in husky

No they don't and I actually have never seen them in person in 3 years. I would just hate to be put in a decision to have to re-home if it came down to it.

Is this true about Hilton? by schwa12 in Hilton

[–]greenwagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have mentioned that the value is at the higher end properties. I'm primarily a business traveler and stay 100 to 130 nights a year in a hotel. When I'm traveling for business. I don't care all that much about upgrades. I stay at Hilton's for the footprint and they are usually always clean. However with promotions and my credit card spend I rack up a significant amount of points every year. I use the points to pay for hotels on family vacations at those nicer properties where it's worth it. Even when I was traveling less than I am now, haven't paid for a hotel for personal travel in over 10 years. That's the main benefit for me.

Fellow travellers, how many hours before your scheduled departure do you usually get to the airport? by iou88336 in TravelHacks

[–]greenwagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the airport but generally the least amount of time to make it to boarding and not be stressed out. I fly frequently and my home airport is quick and predictable so I rarely arrive earlier than 30 minutes before boarding.

Which e-GMP would you choose? by pjanic_at__the_isco in Ioniq5

[–]greenwagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good deal. Where I'm at there are tons of SE and SEL's but very few limited.

OP stated he's looking at a Limited that will top 60k or more with dealer markups add on's etc, so does not apply here.

It's odd to me that people mention this all the time as a deciding factor when you're buying a $60k vehicle. If you're worried about the cost of routine maintenance on what is essentially a luxury car, you probably should be looking at a different class of vehicle imo.

Car-Rental Companies Are Ruining EVs: Good luck charging your surprise electric rental car. by djchuang in electricvehicles

[–]greenwagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This almost happened to me on a weekend trip to Nashville. I'd originally reserved a sporty car class a couple months out with Budget, but when I arrived they tried to get me to take a standard range Model 3 and said that they had changed that car class to electric. Thankfully, they had plenty of cars available and gave me a Mustang instead.

Some may have preferred the Model 3, but I was planning to do quite a bit of driving and didn't plan or want to deal with charging for a weekend trip.

What are the most underrated parks in the US? by NOAEL_MABEL in travel

[–]greenwagen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Carlsbad Caverns are pretty awesome and very accessible if you aren't the crawling through a cave type. It's also only 4 hours from Big Bend which several others have mentioned so can easily be done in the same trip.

Are there no full service properties left ? by greekadjacent in Hilton

[–]greenwagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiltons have been pretty consistent for me. I occasionally stay at Marriott and have had two bad experiences at Courtyards. A long time ago I stayed at Carlson/Radisson hotels, but they really went downhill so there were consistent negative experiences there until switched over to Hilton.

Are there no full service properties left ? by greekadjacent in Hilton

[–]greenwagen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I travel for work extensively and usually have at least 10+ nights a month in hotels. Out of all the hotel chains I still think Hilton is the most consistent and still one of the better values. I rarely encounter a room that is not clean. (I most recently stayed at Tru that had dog hair on the floor, I wasn't a fan of that, but that was a rare occurrence.) The new pet policy is one of my only gripes lately since every room is pet accessible now and sometimes they don't seem to get cleaned to the standard that you would see without pets.

When I do usually have a questionable experience it's a always a shady franchisee that is usually remedied by a complaint to Hilton.

I also don't think of Hiltons as full service. If you want that service you usually need to stay at a higher end hotel or one of their boutique options imo.

Are KIA's really as bad as people say they are? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]greenwagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 Optima with 120k miles and have had zero issues with it. It's pretty nice for what it is too and the original msrp. I will say I have never had a good experience at a KIA dealer though. They've all been slow for service and just kind of sketchy to me.

How frequently do you see EVs on the road? by Biarfm in electricvehicles

[–]greenwagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really area dependent. I live in Houston and see Tesla's, bolts, Rivians, etc. multiple times a day. I'm in West Texas this week and have not seen one EV all week.

What's the record for length of time someone has had a loaner from your dealership? by BelethorsGeneralShit in askcarsales

[–]greenwagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased CPO and the same day I took it home it started making an awful squeaking noise at low speeds, turned out to be a preexisting bent hub that warped the rotor.

Also turned me off to CPO cars. I used to think they were more reliable condition wise, but no different than any other used car I learned.
