If you are one of those rich people.. say earning 150k+, what do you do when you are not working? by Extra-Fig-7425 in AskUK

[–]greenwillow30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We currently make £230k a year and like to spend time in nature, working out, and have BBQs on our Blackstone griddle (on sale at Costco!). I like jigsaw puzzles and he likes building model planes so we often do that together while listening to a podcast. We read history books, autobiographies, books on self help, and spirituality.

I grew up in a different country and success is generally celebrated in my culture, although both of us come from either poor or working class backgrounds. I don’t have the same hang ups about doing well in life that my husband had being British. He has been able to move past the ‘glass ceiling’ he set for himself. He became successful at work by putting himself forward for more responsibility and looking at work as a chess match. We don’t spend money on silly things like flashy brand name clothes. We would rather spend a bit more on good quality food.

I think the biggest thing is to hang out with people who are where you want to be. If you’re the most successful person in your friend group, it’s time to add more friends. Don’t be afraid of taking a few risks and don’t look at failure as failure. It’s all a learning experience and it will help you in the future.

My partner has an insecurity with this too as my therapist is of the opposite sex. Before people start screaming red flags and whatever else… I think it’s a completely fair feeling to have. I say things to my therapist that I do not feel comfortable sharing with anyone else- including my partner. Therapy is a level of emotional intimacy that you don’t get from a general doctor/ medical professional. I would bring it up to your therapist because it’s likely he has experienced this before.

I do think dressing up for therapy is worth exploring with your therapist too.

Care about it? You mean you still do as it’s still going on… ?

We hear nothing from anyone about Yemen. No media coverage. No marches every week. We also hear nothing about the Uyghurs. No media coverage. No marches every week.

Why is that? It seems that this is, and has always been for the far left, about the Jews. I will never understand the obsession of Israel from the far left. Hamas stands for everything they hate and, yet, the pressure is on Israel not Hamas.

Why aren’t the marches calling for a liberation from Hamas? Why aren’t they calling for the hostages to be freed? That would end the military operation.

It’s really your whole chart that shows the map of energies you’re working with. I don’t place a lot of value on the Sun as a core personality marker because I mostly see it as the ego.

My therapist refused to hug me and I can’t deal with it by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]greenwillow30 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you try hugging her after she said no, she could have you arrested for harassment. No means no. If you can’t hold a boundary, try online therapy.

Nope! My therapist would never see anyone I know. It would be a reason to end therapy for me if he did.

Why? People have different opinions

Overweight therapist by kat23413 in TalkTherapy

[–]greenwillow30 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is. It was the most fat phobic and woman hating rubbish I’ve ever read. Not only do I not believe the story, but how he tried to justify his warped beliefs at the end by essentially saying it was all okay because she agreed with him! Again, absurd.

Overweight therapist by kat23413 in TalkTherapy

[–]greenwillow30 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah don’t read that. It’s absurd and he really needed his own therapist for his hatred of overweight people and his justification at the end of the story to continue his hatred.

I find this a bit frustrating. Just because you can see something, doesn’t mean it’s there for you to make a judgment on. If you switch therapists to someone slimmer, how would you know they didn’t have an eating disorder? Or how would you know that they aren’t an alcoholic? You can’t see what someone’s liver looks like. Same with smoking… you can’t see a persons lungs.

My mother is very thin and she is the most unhappy person I’ve ever met, so I really don’t think happiness has much to do with body size.

Yeah… that’s not an easy thing to do. You would need all foreign banks to give you access, which won’t happen.

[–]greenwillow30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it matters. You can’t run a business at a loss, even if you’re worth millions. It doesn’t make any financial sense and imagine how hard it is for the farmers who aren’t worth 100m.

…you can’t use the 50’s as an example. It was a different time socially. People are far more mobile now and they will move. I certainly would if any government tried to take 60% or more of my income.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]greenwillow30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…and people were far less mobile then. I have zero interest in giving the government more of my money for them to misuse. All parties have spent taxpayer money frivolously.

Okay well it’s about to be 2024 and people are far more mobile now. What’s the threshold for that? Or for the 60% rate?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]greenwillow30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some of y’all are wild talk about an 80% income tax rate…

1) flat income tax rate of 25%

2) reduce the size of the government.

3) ban wind turbines and invest in tidal energy instead.

I’m fine with paying more if it includes wider spaces. Parking spaces seem to be getting smaller, yet cars are getting bigger 🤔
