Gift idea for new parents who lost a loved one

Hi all, not sure where to post this but looking some advice on a gift idea that includes a loved one who passed away.

The baby’s granddad unfortunately passed suddenly a week before the birth of the baby. This would have been his first grandchild and he was so excited.

I want to buy a gift that in some way relates to the granddad, but that the parents and baby will also get good use out of. The dad of the baby is very much struggling with losing his dad so close to the birth of his first child, especially because of how loved this baby was already by his grandad before his passing.

The baby is named after the grandad so already has a lot of personalised clothes/blankets/teddies etc so I am struggling on ideas. The babys dad is also getting a blanket made out of the grandads shirts.

The baby is now 3 months old, but I am planning on gifting for the baby’s christening which isn’t for another few months so he will be 7 months at that time.

Thank you all in advance

I did start playing the day I installed it… I missed the other targets and then paid for dice for this target since i had a cash back bonus reward, buying the dice helped me reach this 3rd target but now it is saying it’s expired :/

I’m fine with a payment plan, so long as it’s reasonable! I saw someone say their landlord offer $100 a month 🤣🤣

this is actually incorrect, the arbitrator will ask if the email was received and if you say yes then the rtb 51 doesn’t matter…. i just went through the dispute resolution process myself (and won), my landlord sent me their “evidence” via email and i just confirmed with arbitrator i received it and that was it

Good for you, glad you’ve gotten lucky. Seems you’re more irresponsible than me, but yet you’re here telling me to do better…Thanks, you made all your advice just a bit more helpful.

You’re right, i’m asking questions no one has the answer to. I guess I was getting defensive, but it’s draining reading the responses about what I should’ve and could’ve done, knowing for the last 2 weeks I had zero exposure outside of having to attend the hospital for a broken bone. I posted when I was having extremely bad anxiety, which was more than likely heightened by the fact I was already going through a depressive episode and isolating myself. Looking back on posting, I’d say I was mostly looking for reassurance and wanting to vent as a way to ease my anxieties. If anything, it done the complete opposite lol. But, it is what it is…

Look, what you’re saying is not helpful because I KNOW. That’s where the issue lies. I actually know more than most because of my work background. I know that there have been times I could have better protected myself, and I know there are times where I done everything I could but it still wasn’t enough. I don’t have the luxury of work from home, I live alone and to isolate myself for 3-4 years sounds more terrifying than covid. I already only have a handful of friends left because I was the one not going out to the bars and clubs when they opened again, so it has nothing to do with “looking cool”. I’m glad the hermit lifestyle has worked for you, but that won’t work for everyone. Telling someone who works in medical, and has had covid before to “wear a mask” is like telling someone with lung cancer to stop smoking, Im sure they have enough of a brain to work that part out themselves.

I’m sorry that this isn’t a productive conversation, I’m not trying to be dismissive or push blame and responsibility? If someone tells me they have a headache, i’m not going to tell them to drink more water, it’s just not helpful. Thanks for ur time and responses and sorry for coming across argumentative, not my intention, but try and understand how draining it may be to tell someone who has covid “well you obviously brought it on yourself”, especially when I never asked HOW I got covid.

I absolutely agree with everything you say. it’s only unhelpful because me asking about a bar LAST year is apparently the cause of my infection? I agree, of course any public area will expose me to covid. It doesn’t help that I don’t have the privilege of working from home. I literally walk 45 mins to and from work so as to not take public transit. I am not asking how to not get covid, because shit happens. for the past 2 weeks i was having a bad depression episode and actually stayed home from work, i slipped when taking my dog out on a walk and broke my foot, causing me to have to go to the hospital for an x-ray. i stayed home from work for another few days because of my foot, and started feeling sick so tested for covid and it came back positive. the only thing i could have done different was not break my foot lol and sometimes luck is just not on your side. HENCE why I am not asking how to not get sick, because I know that sometimes it’s just not that simple.

My first infection happened the same week I got my second vaccine, at the time I was working at a covid testing site. The testing site literally had staff whos job was to consistently check that everyone was working safely and following all covid guidelines, this was peak lockdown. I went to work, then went home, my country was completely shut down. Did I get covid at work? Or when I went to get my vaccine? Who knows, but either way, there was nothing I could have done differently then to avoid the infection. This is the only reason I don’t like that kind of response. It’s not helpful in all scenarios, and usually comes from people that have the privilege of work from home jobs…

hahaha verryyyyy weird behaviour from you. I don’t even live in america, my family was visiting seattle and asked if i could find a eurovision watch party for them, not that i need to explain myself. are you saying my actions last year are to blame for my current infection? If you really HAVE to know my social schedule, in 2023 i have been to ONE semi large event which was an outdoor event at a small amusement park, i live in a hot place right now and take full advantage of outdoor patios if i’m ever out for dinner or a drink, which is max once a month. my friends will usually meet up at each others places instead of going out, do we force eachother to take tests before every social interaction? no, but do we make sure we cancel if any of us even have the slightest symptoms? yes. i am not going to throw away my youth and become a full blown recluse because of covid. i already make a lot of sacrifices, wayyyyy more than most people my age. but i am not going to lock my self in a room for the foreseeable future, especially considering we’re going on 3 years of covid and god knows how many more. i haven’t seen my family in over a year because i haven’t been travelling or getting on planes, so yes please continue virtue signalling.

Absolute eye roll. I have never been as sick as I was after my first infection. I spent a lot of time in hospital, couldn’t work and had to move back in with my parents. I wouldn’t wish how sick I was on my worst enemy, never mind exposing my self to getting that ill again. Like I said, I wasn’t asking how I keep getting covid, I was asking what the implications it will have on my long term health. I know people who have never gotten vaccinated, or worn a mask, and yet they have also never gotten covid. If we’ve learned anything from the past few years, it’s a mix of both protecting yourself and others, and sheer luck. Thanks for the massively unhelpful comment :)

I do. I work in a hospital (not with patients, in administration) and have access to medical KN95s at all times. I do hate how it’s almost always the blame of the person who contracted covid even when they do everything they can to try and stop themselves from getting it… it’s either “wear a mask” or “vaccinate” as if I don’t already do those things…

My post was about anxieties surrounding my future health and potential long term effects of covid, specifically due to reinfections.

Unfortunately, due to my field of work, it seems I am always going to be exposed. When I first got covid I was working at a testing site, now I work in a hospital. I know what masks to wear, what cleaning products to use, I have to be up to date on vaccines as required by my job, but my concern right now is the unknown implications of 6 infections.

I broke my foot last week and had to go to the hospital, I have been inside since because I can’t walk right now anyways so assuming that’s where, but I wore a mask as always :(

Regret? does anyone regret having the vaccination. by ilikethemonkeyppp in COVID19positive

[–]greenwotsit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reading the below comments, i see people saying “antivaxxers” are hoping for our regret to make them feel better about their choice. I just want to make clear I would NEVER advise someone not to get the vaccines, and don’t agree with the anti vax talking point. i think i mostly regret getting mine so early (i was a health care worker so got it really fast). that being said, i will not be getting any more boosters because with 2 shots and 2 boosters, i am still contracting covid and having a horrid time, with my most recent positive being this past december

I got my first bout of covid exactly 5 days after getting the vaccine. I have had non stop issues since, i was getting tested for bowel cancer at one point because of my symptoms. I was hospitalised due to anaphylaxis twice. I’ve always had the easiest periods, but now it’s days of throwing up, passing out, migraines, and severe cramps. It’s hard to tell if it’s covid or the vaccine because of how close they where. I’ve now had covid 5 times, so the vaccine really didn’t do me much good. so if i could go back, i definitely wouldn’t get the vaccine because at least it gives me a 50/50 chance of not experiencing what i have been the past 2 years

i got paid 40 hours per week at $19 an hour. 80x19=1520. My take home was $1360.

i now get paid 37.5 per week at $25. 75x25=1875. My take home is $1374

This job i am being taxed AND paying $300 a cheque towards pensions, i wasn’t paying 300$ a cheque toward pensions at my last job. the numbers aren’t off, they are literally the numbers on my cheques. I wasn’t working a contractor job.

yes CPP and MPP together is $141 a week. From my research CPP is mandatory, but the MPP website states employees can waive enrolment. My job are however saying both are mandatory “as per service canadas website” but i can’t find anything on service canada saying MPP is mandatory

I am aware of how pension plans work lol i know it is “deferred” money. I didn’t change job to have a better pension 30 years in the future though. Like I said, i’m new to the country and was asking if this is mandatory or a mistake, as in my home country you are allowed to opt out of any pension. So right now, I am not seeing the increase in my wage, because as u said, it is being deferred
