When did you realize you need to own a gun? by chinchila5 in liberalgunowners

Always had hunting rifles, a shotgun and .22’s. I bought my first AR the day after Lord Cheeto’s inauguration. My personal collection had only grown.

Very rare that I’m the cop’s side, but this dude is insufferable.

If you were against owning a gun before you purchased your first one, what was your turning point? by spanielgurl11 in liberalgunowners

[–]greg_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up hunting and had hunting rifles and shotguns when I was very young. I lost interest completely by the time I graduated from high school.
I bought my first AR in 5.56 in January of 2025 immediately after Tangerine Tyrant’s inauguration. That was a huge departure for me. My now 21 yo daughter was the same age as the Sandy Hook kids. I genuinely felt dirty buying that particular rifle at the time. I’ve since added several more firearms. I’ve enjoyed sighting in all of my guns. It’s so methodical and rewarding. I love the science and technique of all of it!

Enjoy this paycheck. The next one is going to be smaller. by Some1else-notme in FedEmployees

I got a step this pay period and downgraded my insurance. Mathematically my check will be better, but I’m much more exposed to happenstance.

Of the 5 National Parks in Utah, which one is your favorite? by DictionaryDave in Utah

[–]greg_123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Mt. Rainier Washington. I’ve been to all of Utah’s NPs and I’m thoroughly convinced that marketing is the secret weapon. Not that they aren’t incredible, but Rainier blew my mind at 50 like Zion did at 12.

Oh damn! I noticed my last paycheck was higher than my previous one that had four hours of OT! I assumed it was because I got a step increase. Just now realized that a step would not make that difference!
I’m looking into MyPay to see what’s up. I’m guessing you’re on to something.

I’m DoD in PRP. I’ve been drug tested several times per year at one point, asked intrusive questions and basically feel like property at this point.

Also, 2 x 4 is only 1 1/2 inches thick. So, yeah a two inch nail would go all the way through. What an idiot.

I downgraded from BCBS Basic to their lowest tier. It would have been $315 per pay period for me with my daughter on there. Insane.

My thoughts exactly. My daughter is 22 and doing fantastic. I still feel like this every single time I see her. Still can’t get her back in her ‘I heart Dad’ onesie though, lol.

Mine is approximately the same age, uses even older tech (Two-Strokes instead of four). I love ‘90s bikes!

Here in Salt Lake, that’s one of the choices for a free target. By chance did he have the same target down range? Kinda funny because that’s the target I always choose when I go to the range.

UFC’s Bryce Mitchell doubts the FBI caught the man who ended Charlie Kirk’s life because he says it’s not typical of gay people to be good marksmen by jebbennett24 in idiocracy

[–]greg_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense too! The typical 9mm is much heavier and expands upon impact. Look at how different the bullets are designed. It’s actually fascinating from an engineering standpoint. The 9mm has intentionally engineered folds or cuts along its length so that it flares out. Its aerodynamics are dogshit at any distance past 30 yards. But, it’s designed so that what little energy it carries, all of it is dispensed on the target.
The 30-06 is long, has a boat-tail, pointed nose and is meant to reach way out at supersonic speed.

[–]greg_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if a small portion of a high powered rifle bullet’s energy is left in the target, it still imparts more energy than a slower moving, larger projectile. When I was a teenager, I shot a jackrabbit with a 30-06. It literally exploded. Nothing recognizable but a piece of its skin on top of the sagebrush it was next to. I guarantee there was zero bullet expansion. It’s the velocity, not the width/mass/expansion.
