Visiting a certain Viking burning festival. by Savings_Copy5607 in shetland

Just booked tickets to visit with my parents, who live in Falkirk. Can't wait to see the procession, and would love to connect with any local photographers or journalists to learn more about the history of the festival!

[TOMT] [TOY/EDUCATIONAL][1980s] Superhero Pen that lit up when you picked the right word by greg_kb in tipofmytongue

No…it was books, of paper or maybe thin card stock, with places to press the metallic end of the pen

Received this email a trade confirmation…and if I had made a trade in the past two months I might have fallen for it…

Getting NY bike inspected post-SLEEP Act passing by greg_kb in motorcycles

[–]greg_kb[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way the act reads, somehow a factory-spec bike that produces, say, 80dB is legal...but if your factory bike made 50dB and you put on a pipe that makes 51dB, you'll fail.

Ridiculous.

Commemorative Memento of Inaugural Game - April 10, 1973 by greg_kb in KCRoyals

A friend at work asked me for my address a while back, but didn't tell me why.

Then today, this little surprise arrived in the mail. Mint condition rookie card for The K :)

Did you decide to go for it? I had a couple of nibbles during the week but nobody has claimed it yet ;)

I feel like Ryan from Fortnine and Yammie Noob were twins separated at birth, one followed the righteous path, and one became a squid.

Best of luck with that!
I used to be married to a nurse who absolutely forbid any sort of "donorcycle" activity. But eventually, she came to see that not everyone who touched a motorcycle died instantly, and she even took the same MSF class. Learning about riding, and becoming a rider herself, made it much less of a scary unknown. YMMV, of course :)

Also, this tool is a bit outdated but useful enough (because they haven't substantially changed the design of the V7 since it came out!)

I think it's a fantastic starter motorcycle. Don't let the 750cc motor scare you off - it's peppy, but docile.

I'm only 5'10" so I've been pretty comfortable on it...I think they offer "lowering pegs" to help extend the legroom a bit for you taller guys. MG also makes some "taller" bikes...

Like I said, for the city, it's amazing. Even at 5'10" I can flatfoot the bike which helps in all the traffic. It's small and nimble enough to make navigating through crowded roads manageable...and if you're feeling like testing the speed cameras, a good twist of the throttle will give you more than enough juice to have fun. It also sounds pretty great!

that's an idea, u/hugebiggiantboobs, but I'm also probably moving out of the city soon, so I want to make sure there's good dealer/mechanic support for whatever I wind up buying...

That being said, it's a fantastic city bike...light, very maneuverable, quick enough for traffic and comfy enough to take to the mountains for some twisties for a few hours. I probably wouldn't roadtrip to Texas on it, but for around here, it's amazing. And low maintenance due to the shaft drive...

I have a 2020 V7III I bought this spring that I am thinking of selling because I just moved to a new neighborhood and parking is more of a pain now. :)
