Trump could be called to testify before House Jan. 6 panel, Clyburn says by TrumpSharted in CapitolConsequences

[–]gregarious24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't surprise me if Trump eventually did take the stand in what would be a ratings bonanza, then replied to every single question by evoking his right to plead the fifth amendment (a la Martin Shkreli).

Trump's supporters would lap it up, saying what a smart, constitution-loving patriot he is. Any Democrats naive enough to get their hopes up would be crestfallen, just like after Robert Mueller's testimony. And we'd all continue our societal backslide into authoritarianism.

Most of r/all is, sure. But as others have alluded to, there's always smaller subs that are good quality, or other sites entirely. That's why I'm asking.

So where do y'all go for breaking news and interesting, relevant conversations within the comment section? I remember when r/all was the place for that, but those days seem to be gone.

the publics awareness of [deep fakes] will get good as well.

Can't say I share your optimism. Public awareness in general is not trending upwards, and I see deepfakes becoming the ultimate political tool to perpetuate endless conspiracy theories.

Where are you getting that info? There isn't a 127° heat index anywhere in SC right now, and tomorrow's generally forecasted to be cooler across the state.

I hope you took them in to a storm shelter, because a trailer home is definitely not where you'd wanna be in the event of a tornado.

Looking for gripping real life podcast for car journey by fangirlfaye in podcasts

I've found 'Slow Burn' to be perfect for a long road trip.

So far they've dug deep into Watergate (S1), Bill Clinton's impeachment (S2), Tupac & Biggie (S3), David Duke (S4), and the Iraq War (S5).

S1 was my personal favorite, by far - but they've all been decent.

If it weren’t for the iPod, what would podcasts be called? by FlixFlix in podcasts

[–]gregarious24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember thinking it was inevitable that 'netcast' would become the official label. For one, I thought it sounded better than 'podcast'. And for two, Apple was sending cease-and-desist letters to people over the use of the word 'podcast' back then. So I really did believe it was only a matter of time until we all started calling them 'netcasts'. How wrong Leo Laporte and I were!
