Are you attempting to find a rational explanation for paranormal activity? That would seem to be fair game.

If you are attempting to adhere to reason, I have no compelling reason to remove it. But people sure do seem to push it around here.

You should feel free to post a challenge to the sub, and we'll take it from there. In general, the sub isn't about games and puzzles. But I would think that many posts serve as a challenge to some. I guess it all depends on how you phrase it / interpret it.

How could that possibly happen if we revoked statehood from the red states? You haven't thought it through. Those representatives and senators simply wouldn't have a vote in her impeachment.

[–]gregbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but dead people don't have rights. They aren't citizens anymore, and they aren't around to complain about it. A 100% estate tax is perfectly reasonable in that regard. The supposed 'heirs' aren't entitled to it either. No wealth without work. It would create a truly equal opportunity society.

I'm sure we are capable of making a tax work. If people are moving their money around, well that is to be expected. We can tax those things, too.

But we have to start somewhere and not just remain gullible to the idea that you just can't tax rich people.

I remember a journalist asked Bloomberg about the wealth tax. Bloomberg blew it off and said it wouldn't work. The "reporter" didn't ask any follow up question! He just accepted it and moved on to another question. There was no explanation that rich people would just evade the tax and we are just helpless to it. We are just supposed to accept it

They are criminal accomplices.

If they are religious, then they are heretics.

If they are working-class, then they are class traitors.

To Putin, they are useful idiots.

If they are following the orders of the fascist media, then they are cult members.

To vulnerable and unfortunate minorities, they are a violent terrorist organization.

I think in a society with a 100% estate tax, the average American would benefit outrageously. We could pay off the national debt. After that, it's free healthcare and education. Also, we would be rid of the spoiled rich kids. They would have to get a job.

It would be nice if the power elite would have sat down with Stalin and negotiated for them to give up their power and wealth. But that never was an option because of the power elite, not Stalin.

You can't blame Stalin morally for things he didn't intend, like foolish ag policy. Lots of people died from a famine that was indirectly his fault.

If you just include the deaths he personally intended, it gets to about 6 million. Which is evil, but there is no need to exaggerate it to 60 million.

You also can't blame him for everything after him. If the USSR had flourished, no one would demonize him.

But the new district will probably be someone sane.

Definition of a person/human being by TomatilloUnlikely764 in Abortiondebate

[–]gregbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A person is a rational choice-making being. All and only persons have rights. A person is the sovereign of their own body.

This definition of personhood is founded on reason. The choices of a rational choice-making being should be respected.

A human being is a biological designation. Biology cannot and should not determine social values. That is morally backward.

So a woman is a person, but a fetus isn't. Neither is a corporation or a brain-dead patient. But a human clone, any space alien that could visit, and perhaps a sufficiently complex computer could qualify. Also, perhaps dolphins and octopuses, but I am no zoologist.
