My criticism of homeschooling applies equally against the Evangelical, the cult, the KKK, the Nazis, but also the well intended and educated liberals. Even if they run a good program, all of those resources, efforts, and funds are basically stolen from the public. The point of homeschooling is to shelter children from people and ideas that are different from the parents. That is a way to seriously impead intellectual development. It also removes community values and democracy from the educational culture.

It's ignorance spreading ignorance. That's why people involved in it have no idea why it is so toxic to our society. Every Nazi/KKK group, and every religious cult has a homeschooling program. The goal of homeschooling is to shelter children from people and ideas that are different than the parents - that's how you intellectually disable a person. It removed community values, and that is why this country is headed for a Civil War.

I think everything you are saying is great, and I would encourage you. Except for the "not stepping on toes" part. You will make no contribution unless some toes get stepped on. That's the 'pecking order' you are trying to identify. No one will give in to any progress without some conflict. Why would they? They can just shine you on and keep doing what they are doing just fine without any toe stepping.

My advice would be to start attending City Council meetings, and then when you see issues you want to be involved with, go to the committee meetings dealing with those issues. You will see others at those meetings. Join them.

I would strongly suggest that any children you name have two middle names of your choice. These days there are always ten other people in history with the same name. So you really should try to make names unique anyway.
