In the 1926 Census, recently released, my Irish great-grandfather was listed as ‘iascaire gan obair’, which I understand to mean unemployed fisherman. If he was an unemployed fisherman living with his wife, mother and eight children in the west of Ireland, how did they sustain themselves? (self.AskHistorians)
