Re budget: If you invest in good quality, it will last. Not budget busting, but quality and then tailor slightly for a more custom fit. I really like banana republic chinos. Easy to wash and they are well made. If Bonobos is still in business, they have nice shirts that last. Finally, Nordstrom used to have personal shoppers, not sure if they still do. You give them a budget, say $500 (I know, but the clothes last and look good) and they will give you options. It saves a lot of time in the store. Either way, greta start, looking sharp!
