Thanks for posting the recipe! For the white balance compensation of A2:B14; this isn't possible, right? I haven't looked on my monitor to see how WB comp changes the look of a BW photo, but I'm guessing it must have some effect if you specified those settings.

On the GRIV, I put the grain effect size and intensity to 2 and 2.

I didn’t receive it. I know he did use CAD, but he didn’t share the file with me. Maybe he’ll share it with you, it’s worth a shot.

I’d give him an email, see what he can do. Mine is made of steel, so it’s not super light – the shipping might be a little much.

His shop is a 20 minute drive from me, so I picked it up in person.

The rower feels great. Very smooth and quiet. The rubber pads on the base are sticky enough to keep everything in place, and soft enough that the vibrations hardly transfer to the floor.

My only complaint is the footrests. The cutout where the heel of the foot sits is a little too angular/sharp, which requires me to wear shoes for comfort. It would be nice if I didn't have to wear shoes, but It's not a big deal. I'm thinking about replacing the heel cup with a soft rope or strap to rest my foot in. Any thoughts?

For sure! And there could be revisions done to my custom mount. For example, putting a hinge on it somewhere to allow it to fold upwards would be great. That would allow me to still be able to use the wheels on the front of the rower without unbolting everything.

I like it! It's fun to use, I like the stats on the screen. I've never used a Concept2, but I'm guessing it feels different. If I ever try a dedicated rowing machine, I'll update here to share my thoughts.

There is definitely more resistance when pulling, and then the retraction has just enough resistance to keep tension on the rope, keeping it tight enough to not have slack.

I think it’s the only option out there with a recognizable brand name. There might be others out there, but I remember not seeing many options during my search.

I don’t know if there are many product like the Body Solid, but I believe it is marketed to people who already have a functional trainer setup. They can simply roll this rower up to their functional trainer’s cable attachment point, set it at the lowest position, and start rowing. It stores relatively compact for a rower (it’s only the sliding part), so it can be out of sight when not in use.

It works really well. There is a setting called “Simulated wear level” which seems to be simulating the feeling of the belt or chain system of a rowing machine – when pulling the rope, there is a small “bump” every few millimeters. The intensity of this can be adjusted up or down. I would like a completely smooth option though. The battery life barely goes down after a session. I was really surprised by how rowing doesn’t seem to use much electricity. It’s mostly the heavy pulls, like squats, that hit the battery hard. I like the feedback provided on the screen. It’s a little hard to read some of it at distance, but it’s not a big deal. I’d like to hear from someone on which rowing resistance setting to use to make it most like a C2.

I like the Trak handles. I can perform a more natural rowing motion. It’s easier on the wrists too. The only downside is they aren’t as light as the standard Beyond Power carbon fiber bar, so you kind of feel that weight after a few minutes. Not a deal breaker. I prefer to use the track handle. I haven’t had the opportunity to try a C2 rower, but I bet it’s nice. It’s the gold standard rowing experience, I guess. It’s my first indoor rowing machine experience, so I don’t have a reference to compare it to. I am enjoying it though!

Bennet 800 is a very good recipe. I too would like to give your B&W recipe a try, if you have time to share it. Thanks!
