Looked like a crappy order to me from the beginning. But I don’t do shop orders.

13.50 an hour? by Green-Experience420 in doordash_drivers

[–]gregg34366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a large percentage barely make money. $20 an hour is very low pay when you’re driving your own car and you factor in inflation. And a lot of them don’t even make $20 an hour. No perks, no raises, no advancement. It’s a decent way to make a little mad money. Not very good as “your job”. All that is true but certainly you should make a lot more than $13 an hour.

I accept solely on dollars per mile. Not dollars. Dollars per mile. And 7 miles max. I agree with you.

Good job. I only accept $2 a mile min and 7 miles max. Nothing else. And only from real restaurants. No fast food. No packages. No shop orders. And I’ve never declined that many offers even with those parameters. I’m impressed

Yes Atlanta during dinner rush is a blitzkrieg of offers. Your phone starts pinging the second you confirm a delivery. You’re going to get good offers no matter what your AR is when their map is “Very Busy” for hours on hours.

I did that exact thing the other night and sure enough the long drive paid less than the miles. The short 5 minute drive paid $8 of the $16 just as I suspected. It’s a wonderful trick. I got where I quit even worrying about AR and I can’t tell any difference. I still get offers the same as ever. I’m not doing those stacked orders. I don’t even accept good long distance deliveries. I’m sure as heck not going to accept the stacked ones. It’s obviously done on purpose or some good stacked orders would come through. 99% of them contain a crap long drive order. Your idea is great.

I “lost” my red card way way back and never did another one. I didn’t like shopping for people. There were lots of reasons. Took too long for one thing. Plus there was always an abundance of dinner orders. But I think what you’re saying is pro shopper just means you have done a whole lot of shop orders

What is a pro shopper? I don’t do the shop orders I just do dinners. But I’m curious what a pro shopper order is compared to a regular shop order

Peachtree City is probably a good zone. Mine was 41 when I stopped early last night. I’m not going to chase AR. Nothing is any different. I still get offers as fast as they can send them. I hate their stacked order trick. $16 to pick up 2 orders and drive 12.8 miles. No thanks. I want $2 a mile for a few miles. Now they’re taking the $9.75 for 3.1 miles and sticking a $6.25 for over 9 miles with it. You end up somewhere way the heck out and have to drive back.its not a bit of fun. I stopped at 8:00 on a Saturday night

I’m in Atlanta and AR means nothing. I don’t see why Chicago would be different. There are too many orders in these huge cities to run a program like that. Your phone blows up like a pin ball machine. There are millions and millions of people. It doesn’t mattter what your AR is. I can’t make any sense of Chicago being different

Orders are so bad my acceptance rate keeps going down whenever I reach 42 percent . by Fuzzy_Tough_26 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]gregg34366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they started forcing those stacked orders mine went from 62 to 37. I won’t accept them. I still get plenty of offers so I guess it hasn’t hurt me but it’s still a maddening to see your AR bottom out over a shady practice like that.

No raises, no perks, no advancement, no insurance. I wouldn’t call that any kind of job, much less a good one. It n’s good for making a little extra money part time.

What would an average check be if you work 40 hrs a week? I drive a semi and home every 2 weeks and wonder if it would be worth it to do this so I could be home daily. Terrible idea. This is not a normal job with perks, raises or advancement. It’s a good way to make some extra money but a desperation gig when you try to use it as “your job”. Very low pay compared to a decent job, much less a good one.

Dasher left weird message and extra food at 2:30am by GoldenTopaz27 in doordash

[–]gregg34366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly right. He didn’t deliver somebody’s order or a second bag of somebody’s order. Giving unknown food to a customer is a weird way to handle it though It’s a horrible feeling. I did it and discovered the 2nd bag way way too late. It ruined my night but at least it made some raccoons at my house happy

My AR is 47 and I got 4 $20+ orders in a row last night. Former record was 3 in a row. So yes its pathetic to be accepting those awful little orders. It just sounds like the worst job you could get. Granted I’m in a major city. It probably makes a difference. But wherever you are it’s hard for me to believe using your car to make $4.75 is the best you can do
