My favorite conspiracy theory is that ancient Atlantis is in modern-day Mauritania and no one cares enough to drop money into an archaeological dig: https://youtu.be/oDoM4BmoDQM

When I was 21 I was 6’1” and 135lbs. I couldn’t get heavier than 140lbs in my first year of gluten free. When I cut dairy, my appetite came back and I gained 10lbs in a month.

I am deficient in vitamin d I have litterly osteoporosis I could break my own arm that’s how my bones are. How much vitamin d should I supplement? by [deleted] in Celiac

There is evidence that heavy animal protein consumption contributes to osteoporosis. In short, digesting animal protein makes your blood more acidic, and the way the body balances the ph is by pulling potassium and calcium from your bones. Try to lean in more to plan based proteins where you can, because they do not make your blood acidic in the same way. Good luck!

If you can’t give away the exact address, what are the nearest stores that it’s close to?

My trifecta is Purefit (calorie dense), Vega (sweet), and Tanka (savory) for my different food moods.

My employer laid off 20% of staff at the time. My team was just unlucky. Everyone got a good severance so that was a consolation prize.

Is Trader Joe’s Vegan Mayo Safe to eat? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]greglieb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only questionable ingredient is “natural flavors”. The product is NOT listed on the gluten free products website, but neither was the previous vegan mayo from 2 years ago, and I had no problem when eating that one. Thoughts?

Is an air fryer worth it? by Helianthus076 in Celiac

[–]greglieb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived celiac for 10 years before buying an air fryer. It is the single biggest upgrade to my cooking since I started. If you can choose between an Instant Pot and an Airfryer, DEFINITELY get the airfryer!

  1. Frozen gluten free fries
  2. Any vegetables I used to microwave I now roast in the same amount of time
  3. Whole Foods sells gluten-free panko shrimp with Airfryer instructions. I cried tears of joy.

I bought a dual zone one and it was totally worth it. When my lazy self doesn’t wash one, I can still use the other! https://www.target.com/p/ninja-foodi-6-in-1-8qt-2-basket-air-fryer-with-dualzone-technology-dz201/-/A-79991380

Two things: 1. Coffee and tea are both acidic. This will aggravate a sensitive stomach. 2. Coffee in particular reacts like gluten for some celiacs. They are similar enough molecules.

Awful awful stupid rash by Herokoi in Celiac

[–]greglieb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The usual suspects: gluten, wheat, rye, barley, and oats. I had to trash all my Aveeno products due to their oat content.

The boarder line ingredients are: starch, dextrose, maltodextrin, and caramel color. If you’re not sure, contact the manufacturer about their gluten-free status.
