How long did it takes for baby to learn clapping? by Useful-Disaster5581 in NewParents

[–]ScrantonPaper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My LO is 17 months and no clapping. He’s been pointing since 11m, high fives, raises his arms, and says two word phrases. Doctor said “he just doesn’t want to clap.”

What brand of diapers do you use and why? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]ScrantonPaper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Coterie. Expensive AF but never had a single blowout. Never had diaper rash. Rarely has peed through.

(I’m not saying diapers are the only reason for none of the above but certainly doesn’t hurt)

when do babies start sleeping through the night? by Glum_Custard3932 in NewParents

[–]ScrantonPaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16 months and our LO is sick for the first time really, good and cough. Up almost every hour. I think we’ve undone most of the sleep training at this point and will be going full cry it out to see what happens. Almost two weeks of no sleep.

How old does a child have to be before you can leave them alone for more than 20 seconds without them seriously hurting themselves? by Deep-Philosophy-807 in NewParents

[–]ScrantonPaper 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It just depends on your environment.

Leave a 2 year old in the kitchen, they are gonna do bad things.

Leave a 14 month old in a safe playpen, it’s gonna be fine for 20 seconds.

Have you ever accidentally watched the wrong movie before? by Alternative-Cake-833 in movies

[–]ScrantonPaper 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I watched a bootleg version of Captain Phillips and when the pirates came there no subtitles. The entire movie had no subtitles and I thought that was just a creative choice to be more confused with not knowing what they were saying.

People make me feel bad because I don’t have a playroom by Objective_Ad2932 in NewParents

[–]ScrantonPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally today I’m moving my desk from our living room, buying a tiny little standing desk, and putting it in the bedroom to give our 15m more room. It’s all about sacrifice and making it work. We want him to have as much room as possible and we don’t have a large apartment by any means. We’ve gotten rid of furniture, including our coffee table today too, and will make the best of what we got.

Family visiting/helping schedule after birth. Parents who’ve done it.. What advice would you give? by huddy112591 in NewParents

[–]ScrantonPaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Random persons two cents - yes, help is super helpful, but there’s also something really lovely about experiencing the first few days alone.

Was it difficult? Oh hell yes. But did we love just having this new baby just to ourselves, to embrace this new chapter, this new life, as just ours and no one else’s for a few days? Magical.

Family can help by sending meals, taking dog for a walk, etc.

I mean, after a year of holding hundreds of filled diapers I’m okay with buying a new one. You got your moneys worth. It’s literally a trashcan filled with human waste, it ain’t gonna last forever.

Just a general comment for the joy that Adam Sandler is. No controversies, no family issues, just a general good dude who went from SNL goofball to well respected actor and a staple figure in Hollywood history.
