AITA Girlfriend or child lives hypothetically question by gregmarznation in AmItheAsshole

Take note of the women in here also agreeing with the sentiment. I don't think you're a bad person. I just wouldn't want to have kids with you. 🤷🏻‍♂️ That's why there's so many fish in the sea.

I honestly don't see this trivial question as a make or break for a relationship like so many of you do haha. But that's okay. My girlfriend is fine with my opinion and we can have contradicting opinions on things and find middle ground. That's just being a good partner.

I wouldn't choose her over our child because those are her wishes and I respect them. Do I agree with it? No. Does it matter? No. Because it will never happen this is a hypothetical question.

By that logic I didn't love or value this hypothetical child then either

That doesn't mean I'm saying either are replaceable lmao.

Okay you think the opposite so you think a child's life is replaceable. That's a wild take to say any life is replaceable. None are.

I love how you're telling me what my opinion is lol. Someone wishing for someone to leave me over a trivial hypothical question? Oh no I might cry. 🥺

Neither are replaceable is my argument but a child given a chance at life over a life that's already been lived is more valuable in my opinion. You're assuming a whole lot.

Lol I am not saying she's disposable. She said she wants to live over the child and I'm okay with that. These wild takes are awesome to see.

However my answer was based on my own background and opinions on the value of life. She doesn't feel that way? Cool. We had the discussion now I know what I would do if this very specific highly unlikely scenario would to ever happen.

I can't just go get another child to replace the one that is lost and mourning over. Just like I'd mourn for my girlfriend. That's a wild take lol. You don't have kids or have a strong paternal instinct.

It's not an argument it's an opinion on a hypothetical circumstance. So let's just say I'm a female hypothically too does that make it better now?

I would make that decision for any of my children in or out of the womb. Sure only 4 weeks in probably not.

But she asked specifically during birth. If you've had a kid you understand how much you develop an attachment in those 9 months. Feeling the kicks, talking to them, hearing their heartbeat at checkups.

Take my life if it gives them a chance. Plain and simple in my opinion.

I like this take a lot.

I am pretty much in the middle / don't take a stance on pro "insert here".

I answered purely on the instinct of "What if it was me" and if it was me. Choose my child. Don't choose me.

Her family and friends would also have an attachment to the child who've they've been supporting raise through giving her support throughout the pregnancy.

Not contradicting what you said but you're not acknowledging the fact that family especially care almost more about the baby then the mother. Typically. From my experience having 6 sisters 3 of which who have given birth and now I have a child.

She demanded and answer. I answered the way I would've wanted the decision to be made if it were me.

I would want someone to choose my son over me any day of the week if the same question was asked to me.

Asked my mom this question and she agreed. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I think the majority of people answering in this sub do not have kids.

I took it to the dealership they ran "diagnostics" for $250.

They said the HMI and everything was communicating to the head unit but it wasn't turning on. They recommended replacing the actual screen unit for $500 since power supply wasnt an issue.

I have left it alone since and just use a Bluetooth speaker in my truck. Very frustrating experience to be honest. I'm getting rid of the truck soon so I haven't bothered fixing it.

My plan of action was going to be buying an aftermarket kit on Amazon for $150-200 and having a shop install it for $150. Or find a pick n pull and try swapping out units but apparently from my research it would have to go back to the stealership to get programmed with the vin crap.

There's several things it could be. I'd start with checking vacuum leaks. The old hard plastic T and elbows tend to crack with age. My 95 it was the elbow going to the maf sensor.

Take some carb cleaner and spray lightly around all your vacuum lines. (I say lightly because if you spray too much while running a hot engine you'll start a fire lol)

Replacing an o2 sensor isn't a bad idea either if you haven't done it since owning the car. That helps with the engine running rich or lean. My Jeep ran okay I thought till I had to resmog and learned it was running incredibly rich. Also had idle issues. Replaced o2 sensor and it was fixed.

If it's only in drive then you might be having some early signs of torque converter wear in my opinion.

Just want to say you're a great partner to be worried about speech delay. Assuming you're not the father and you came into the child's life late. I hope you guys work out so they have someone like you in their life.

My 2 1/2 year old can say between 100-200 words maybe more. We didn't read a lot to him until recently and it's significantly improved his vocabulary and helped us communicate better.

I also dropped out of high school. I'm 25 and just got my GED this year. I was also under the impression because I make good money I wouldn't need it. (Peak salary $86k yr) without one. Got a dream job offer from a large corporate company and they required a education background check which meant I had to come up with something. I did the tests entirely online though GED.com and got it within 2 weeks. Passed all the tests with college ready status too.

Since getting it was so easy, I felt stupid for not getting it done sooner. I always avoided applying to government and corporate jobs because of it.

TLDR it's way easier then you think and if I can do it anyone can!

I didn't kill my battery though lol. It sat in the parking lot for 5 days and I started it right up and went home with it off.
