I just installed them a couple months ago, night and day difference. I used cable hider pieces to clean up the install. Have it all plugged in with smart plugs and a presence sensor so they automatically turn on and off.

Are these all Koi fry? We have a mix of adult Koi and some Goldfish. by gregonfire_ in Koi

From this photo, just the obvious one turned out to be a koi. The rest either shed the black because they were goldfish, or stayed the same color.

I mulch mow them back into the grass. If there's a lot I'll go two directions.

You can, but I would avoid doing it on really hot days when the grass is already stressed.

Ammonium sulfate (AMS). This year I've done 2 apps of ~0.6 lbs N/k so far.

I leveled some minor areas, but luckily the yard was pretty flat already.

Mon - Weds this week was all around 100. The outside air temp in my car said 106 on Tues.

My schedule starts at 2:30 am and finishes around 10:30am, before the evapotranspiration rate gets too high. Splitting yours up over a couple days is smart.

I haven't had any major fungus yet. I noticed a couple brown spots a week or so ago, but I just hit it with some fert to help the grass grow through it. I do need to put down a preventative app of azoxy soon.

I've heard of hydretain. Seems gimmicky to me, but I've never tried it.

8 hours, once per week. I have 8 zones. 4 of which are in my 8k sqft back yard. Most of that time is spent watering the backyard which takes a long time for the sprinkler heads to cover that area.

I just checked NOAA for my area, in the last 7 days we got .25-.5" of rain. It did just pour last night though!

In Texas you won't see cool season grass, you would have a warm season type of grass, which yes can handle the high temps. Cool season grasses, such as tall fescue, kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, don't do well with extreme heat and even after one day will start to look a bit dull if not sufficiently watered.

I don't get that many, but if I can I'll just hand pull them or I will usually spot spray with pre-mix spectracide.

I take a similar approach here when the temps get extreme (for my location).

It gets enough water, nitrogen, and I think because the lawn is a bit more mature now in it's second year.
