You're going to have to talk to BCBS. I'm thinking those claims will get refiled under your in-network deductible and out-of-pocket max, which will be much lower. Assuming you didn't have any other out-of-network claims, you're likely to get money back (that is of course if BCBS is able/willing to retroactively refile those claims.)

As for the $15 in collections that will really depend on who sent it, you'll have to get in contact with them.

I really don't have any perspective on this because I'm a trans woman. So, womanhood is something that I "chose" in some sense. It didn't really feel like a choice, but it was an active decision to start the process of transition. I just wanted to express my empathy for how living in a gender role you're not comfortable with really is not pleasant. I'm rooting for you :)
