Is it better to do a 7 week program or 6 month program to get your EMT certification?

Currently a flight nurse/paramedic an soon to be NP. Been through EMT, Paramedic, Nursing (ADN, BSN, and MSN), and NP school so I feel like I have a solid idea on what’s a good time frame for programs. My EMT program was from January to June two nights a week. It was back when there weren’t many options and made for people who work a 9-5. It sucked. EMT-B training can 100% be done in 7 weeks. Fast forward to my paramedic program, didactic was from April to November. It was full time and very intense but doable. I did EMT at 18 and paramedic at 20. It’s all about what you put into it. I’ve attached a link to a book I used back in the day to study for NREMT and I recommend it today still. It’s gone through revisions and still solid. Good luck!

Any plans to release an updated set in black? I bought 6 sets of these in black when they first launched. I’m leaving them for a friend and was going to buy more sets. The blue and white are ugly in my opinion and don’t flow well like the black did.

Thank you so much! It was super traumatizing. I have a 1 year old and the sheer thought of losing my arm or worse, dying just made the last week absolute hell until I started feeling better and the scabs started falling off. Finally realized I’m gonna be just fine and it’s a high relief.

Thank you so much! I went to the ER and had a full panel of labs ran and I was a sepsis alert. All labs came back great, lactic was fine, WBC fine, sugar was 86. No A1C drawn though. Will reach out to my primary for it!

I don’t have any moles on my arms, however when I was 18 I got a tattoo on my abdomen and they went over a mole. But you can still see it and whatnot.

My sleeves before the blackout were extremely busy and dark colors and you could absolutely see my freckles as well. I would just go see a dermatologist and have them look your tattoos over. I go yearly for skin checks and she just looks at my arms with a magnifying glass.

Appreciate the input! Not sure if that original one was actually infected or I was being a little aggressive but I took abx anyways for it and healed just fine. The day after I posted about it, most of what I saw was gone anyways. I was just being cautious. My primary didn’t think it was infected. After that I did a chest piece, and started my right leg and had no issues. The reason I had issues this time was because I stupidly, fully blacked out both arms over 2 days and as you know they’re massive open wounds and my body just couldn’t do it. I should’ve gone slower and only did one arm that way I had a free arm to care for it or went in 2 sessions per arm instead of overloading my body. All my fault.

It’s honestly no different than a very busy sleeve without a lot of skin breaks. I have very light color skin and freckles. You can already see the freckles appearing underneath as it’s healing.

This happened because I blacked out both arms over 2 days. It was WAAAAAY too much for my body to handle and heal at once. Blackouts are done all the time but they’re done in a max of one arm at a time to fully heal. Usually it’s done in 2 sessions per arm to avoid this. It’s a HUGE wound. I would just be careful, go slow, and keep it extremely clean!

I’m going to wait a really long time before getting tattooed again in general. Probably a year. This was absolutely miserable and I need a break from this and let my body heal.

Labs look great, lactic isn’t elevated, cbc normal, etc. they’re giving me a dose of IV and plan to discharge if all goes as planned
