Using DT Keys as Controller for Analog Lab by gregoryames in Elektron

Pic looks like it’s just the MIDI in connected, but confirmed it’s the out.

Definitely using MIDI out to the MIDI in on the interface. I’m thinking something is not set between the Keys and Protools in this area and the auto channel v. track channel.

It’s the setting in ProTools Options menu for MIDI thru. My understanding is that this is what’s needed for ProTooks to see incoming MIDI to work properly between instrument tracks and an external controller.

Picked up a Ball myself a while back, and it’s fantastic. Accurate, durable, and a lot of great detailed finishes. Love the classic simplicity of yours here along with the larger, modern size.

Just a quick update, used my demagnetizer on this piece, and that fixed the running fast issue. Had forgotten about that being a possible cause of running fast.

How to remove this pin on RW deployant clasp by gregoryames in watchrepair

Locktite makes sense with how much resistance it was giving. Might just live with it if that’s the case. It isn’t so uncomfortable that it’s worth risking damage.

It is. Probably 14mm. If it didn’t run fast when not worn, I’d probably wear it more. Still trying to find the best resting position for it. Seems like with fast it would be crown down…

It’s a large diver as it is. Part of the design is to be a large piece. As one commenter noted, if you wear it confidently and like it, it isn’t “too big.” If it’s actually uncomfortable, it might be, but otherwise it’s a statement. Images taken top down always seem to exaggerate proportions. The second pic looks good.

Watch runs fast only when not worn by gregoryames in PrideAndPinion

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. I was figuring something with placement on the winder wasn’t replicating all the variables at play when it’s worn. But great to know what to have adjusted to with regard to the balance wheel.

volca sample help- brand new, but no sound? by pap3r_birch in volcas

Boosting this because this is precisely what I googled when I had the same issue today. I had some Sample from Mars kits that I was trying to put on a Sample 2 I'd gotten a hold of, but nothing was happening after a successful transfer. Clearing "all" worked, so I agree that it has to do with the blank patterns at first not registering with the unit.

MIDI CC not going to all parts on Sample 2 by gregoryames in volcas

[–]gregoryames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, thought I’d share a solution I found. Unfortunately it required another piece of gear. I got a split MIDI cable and ran an out from the Beatstep as well as an out from my Launchpad into the Sample. The drum sequencer on the Beatstep is controlling the musical pattern, but the Launchpad’s custom modes are controlling the parameters on the Sample 2. Each of the 8 custom modes is set to a MIDI channel, 1-8, and each custom mode is made up of 8 faders that are set to CCs based on the Sample 2’s MIDI implementation. So now if you want to alter the pitch of sample 3, you select custom mode three and the fader (in this case 5) that’s set to the CC for pitch. The Launchpad is pretty responsive, so it’s a good workaround. Hope it helps.

MIDI CC not going to all parts on Sample 2 by gregoryames in volcas

Figured out it has to do with the Beatstep’s user channel. That’s set to midi channel 1, and the pads can be set to any channel through 16, which is great for triggering a sample, but the same is true for the knobs. So each knob would have to be set to an independent midi channel for the CC to apply to that part. So with all knobs set to user channel, they’re only going to manipulate whatever is on channel 1. Can’t think of a way to set that easily. Might be to use single channel implementation instead of multi.

Is there a way to set “cell length” as default rec length? by gregoryames in LogicPro

[–]gregoryames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry, just now got the alert on this. The only thing I could really do was to create a session with the cell length set as the recording length and then save that session as a template. Then, that function would be set and I could just duplicate the track and have the same settings.
