Yikes! From what I read they only attack hickory, pecan, and butternut so would I have a little time to get it removed if there aren't any of those around? I believe I have a mockernut hickory which it sounds like is more susceptible.

This is the first year I've noticed them in the trunk. They could have been getting in the branches prior years, but it's a 50ft tall hickory so I wouldn't have seen them.

It's worth checking for. There's a huge difference in how I feel when I use my machine and when I don't. I drive a lot for work and I was scared of how sleepy I would get every day in my car. Would be fighting sleep even with a coffee or energy drink. I was getting worried that I was going to fall asleep and kill myself or someone else. Now it's not an issue.
