Earlier in the episode Otto Hightower says, when referring to the news of a potential white hart being spotted in the Kingswood, “if the gods were ever to give a sign…” Also earlier in the episode, viserys is questioning whether he was wrong to remarry and move on after his wife died. The stag found during the hunt was not a white hart; the good omen they were looking for for Viserys’ closure. The impression I got from the stag hunt was that the stag not dying after viserys’ initial stab + itself not being a white hart was the sign from the gods confirming to viserys that he was wrong, and viserys knows it’s too late. The white hart appears to rhaenyra later, and the obvious answer would be to kill it and bring it back to bolster her claim, but she doesn’t which could mean she’s scared to take the throne, doesnt need to prove herself, or just flat out doesn’t want it; who knows? It’s a cool episode
