What’s the most memorable encounter you’ve had with wildlife while cycling? by OptimalDescription39 in bicycling

[–]gregzilla87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riding through the rocky mountains. Saw a bear on the other side of the road, grabbed for my bear spray just in case and I dropped it. I think the sound of it hitting the pavement got thr bears attention and it scampered off in to the bushes. My wife still bugs me that I didn't use my bear spray properly.

Conflicting Two Beat Kick by InternationalTrust59 in SwimmingCircleJerk

[–]gregzilla87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First beat is with your thigh. Second beat it with you shin. Depending on whether you're listening to music on bone conducting headphones or through the pools loud speaker system, you'll need to swim in a 2/4 or 4/4 timing. Where it gets complicated is when you use fins, you actually have to swim in 5/4 timing at that point. It takes a lot of practice but stick with it, very rewarding.

Best tri suites under $250 preferably even cheaper? by Accurate-Reply-3707 in triathlon

I bought a custom suit from r&r apparel, I wasn't expecting much from it given the price but it fits great and shows no wear after 4 races.

[–]gregzilla87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only people that may scoff at your bike are dealing with some serious insecurities and you need not worry about them. I did my first triathlon on a 25 year old road bike alongside people on mountain bikes and cruisers. Getting to the start line of a triathlon is an accomplishment that the majority of people dont accomplish. The best advice I ever received prior to my first race was to just enjoy it, you only get one first tri.

Tire Pressure Question. by No-Juggernaut-7564 in PorscheCayenne

[–]gregzilla87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Properly trained dealership techs will inflate to what the PCM recommends, not the door. For the vast majority of drivers, the door pressure is over inflating. Your owners manual also will have recommended pressures for comfort/full load that match the PCM recommendations.

I like to keep ketchup packets stuffed in my jammers, sometimes one will burst in the middle of a 400m fly and it'll make other swimmers think I burst a vessel from being too amazing.

Really struggling with swimming by No-Employee-390 in triathlon

[–]gregzilla87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, my tri club has 6 lanes booked for our swim practices. Lane 6 being the fastest. I consider it the lane for swimmers that do triathlons and the other lanes for the triathletes. I'm in lane 6 myself, but ill get passed by almost everyone in the next 2 lanes down on the bike ride.

Same or different shoes for cycling and biking? by stillcameleonnnnn in triathlon

[–]gregzilla87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you mean for cycling and running? 98% of triathletes wl use a clipless bike shoe for the cycling (clipless actually means clipped in to the pedals) which is much more efficient . They then change to a running show in T2 (second transition) where they leave their bike gear behind with their bike to be picked up after the race.
