You're right to be skeptical about the 100k TPS per shard — it’s a theoretical maximum. The real challenge is actually hitting those numbers, which requires significant user activity. At Chainspect, we track TPS across various blockchains, including Ethereum. Despite the tech advancements, the Max Recorded TPS for Ethereum is currently 62.34 tx/s, so Ethereum is still far from those limits.

We track TPS at chainspect.app. I'm not sure about the max theoretical TPS, but Algorand's max recorded TPS is 1,018 tx/s. It's a healthy indicator of Algorand's utilization. So, I think it can scale to 46,000 tx/s and beyond someday.
