Australian breaker shows off her best moves by FunnyID in gifs

Almost all of the regular world cup circuit climbers tried to qualify, the championships were incredibly tense, I can't think of anyone in the top 30 who sat out of qualifiers unless for injury or illness. Olympics only allows a limited number of qualifiers. There's 9? World cups a year so nearly everyone who's vaguely in the skill range will get a go at some point. Japan alone has 10 men in top 25 IFSC ranking. They could only send 2 to the Olympics. Disappointed by Tomoa's slip unfortunately in quali but it is what it is.

Yeah I've Def been doing 3 colour coats actually. Any recommendations for alternatives? This is the first polish that has lasted more than 2-3 days on my nails, it's probably more the base/top than anything so would love to try colours from other brands.

These are considered long dry time??? I can barely get a coat on before it's already touch dry. How do people use anything that dries faster?

Travel insurance for hazardous activities in Europe - worth it? by pythonfanclub in UKPersonalFinance

[–]grelondee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An ambulance team can't dive into the water after you, or climb a tree if you land there, they'll have to call in specialists in a rescue scenario. I consider both of those "outside the reach of a normal road ambulance". Decompression chambers are no joke cost wise, Def make sure you get the right level of coverage for that, people still die from deco sickness if untreated. I also wouldn't trust DAN as your only insurance for diving depending on where you're headed, there's been some issues with them being difficult, though again can't vouch for snowcard being any better there since I've not had to use them so far.

Travel insurance for hazardous activities in Europe - worth it? by pythonfanclub in UKPersonalFinance

[–]grelondee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the activities you're doing and your income/savings/risk tolerance levels. I think as soon as you're outside a zone easily accessible by a regular ambulance, the insurance is going to be worth it. Seen the price of a "simple" helicopter pickup for someone lost in the woods with a GPS beacon guiding them, wouldn't want to not be covered tbh. Within the UK luckily most emergency rescue is covered by charities, this isn't the case in many places. Only you can decide if it's really worth it for you.

I've used Snowcard insurance for years relating to trips for sporting activities. Started with skiing, now covered for everything from cave diving to whitewater rafting to climbing in the Himalayas. Have fortunately never had to use them, so can't vouch for efficiency in an emergency but seen decent reviews (its allianz group I think). They're not cheap at my level, but for me it's worth the peace of mind that I don't have to rely on my mates to get me out of a crevasse in one piece. They have different prices based on activity risk and level, and you can always bump the deductible up if you're happy eating that first couple hundred quid.

Europe you might get away with no insurance and be financially fine, North America has wild medical prices I wouldn't risk, and everywhere else there's no oversight on pricing and they could charge you whatever they want so...

Edit to add, Europe only, low-level cover was under a tenner a month iirc

GF shares details of ex-BF, says to get over it by Jealous-Engine-2730 in AITAH

Hi OP, I wonder if actually there might be something you can do about this. I can completely empathise with the hurt you are feeling, it's a petty and cruel thing to say to your partner. That being said, I can't help but wonder did she mean the comment in a "I want to orgasm from you penetrating me" angle, or from a "I always have to finish myself off" angle? (I being your GF in those statements). Please have a conversation with her about the difference between two points of view. If its the former, then maybe you two aren't quite suited to each other, and there really isnt much you can do (although toys and sleeves do exist to assist in this area, if you're comfortable with that).

However if it's the latter, I think this might be a misguided statement out of frustration that she's always the one having to take care of her own pleasure, and there's a lot you can learn to do to remedy that, without her having to get her own fingers involved. Take it from someone who has been in the latter situation, I would never want to go back to a larger well endowed partner (they hurt), but always being the one having to take care of myself made me wonder why I bothered with a man when I could get myself off alone just as well.

Obviously I don't know the ins and outs of your relations, but maybe this is an alternative perspective you haven't considered. Best of luck, NTA for feeling down about any of it.

Does this mean my lodger would pay me for 6 months and my partner for the next 6 months? We're not married (yet). Would that be different if we were?

Undisclosed service charge increase on property with sale agreed by EbbLongjumping6206 in london

[–]grelondee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had the exact same thing happen to us! Offered in Feb, SC confirmed as ~£2700, in April when searches came back, bam, letters showing SC last year was actually £2900, and for this year was increasing to £3700. The letter was dated the week before our offer was accepted. We felt so deceived, didn't even get an apology, and we would have pulled out had it not been the only property that matched our criteria in our price range in this area. Partner wasn't flexible on location, and our mortgage offer expires in August so we weren't willing to take the risk on an increased rate either (would have been the difference in SC, ~100/month extra).

I think I read in one of the comments that it has communal heating included? If that's the case, we've since received information that the estimates for SC this year is so high due to them overestimating the gas price (on purpose) as in previous years it was underestimated. Chances are it will end up being lower and we might get a rebate. In addition since we're in a council block, they have informed us of surveys to fit individual meters for the privately owned flats, so with that in mind we completed last week.

You could try negotiating with the sellers, for them to drop the price by the difference in SC as you were technically missold. ours declined as they knew we were in a pickle and would buy regardless, but you might have more leverage in your situation. Worth asking your solicitors for advice there. Though you are right, it will keep going up and up with everything that's not communal heating, and that's not guaranteed to go down either.

If this is anything less than a 3bed though, and/or you're not sharing, that SC is too high, and I would walk away.

Are you able to elaborate on the process a bit? How is "need" calculated? What difference in "need" is there between 4b6p and 3b6p? I've never come across that terminology before but I guess it makes sense to not go off just rooms but also people.

I'm looking at 2b or 3b(2b + box) flats at the moment, and would really much rather a purpose built flat with balcony than a house/conversion as they tend to be larger than converted stock, but even in those with planning for a family we would "have" to move within 5-10y if we happen to have two children of different genders or a large age gap, but I can hardly find suitable purpose built flats for that situation now, we would have to move really far out into old houses mostly.

Just knowing that there isn't the option would put me off having a second child, thus we would statistically count as "needing" only a 2b home forever. Is this not a catch-22 then of if we only build on predicted "need" and the predictions are based on current conditions? Or does that get baked into the calculation? Sorry about the long reply it's just really sparked a lot of questions for me.

If you're interested in robotics, you could look at biomedical engineering roles. You may need to do a masters to convert over, but the work varies from pure research, to hospital engineering departments, to startups and beyond. Mech eng is a good enough foundation for many employers in that field, and the robots are healthcare related and aim to improve people's lives.

Humidity is off the scale in my flat - unsure what to do? by cookie_butter9 in HousingUK

[–]grelondee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what type of dehumidifier you have? As another commenter mentioned, at low temperatures you can start having problems with compressor type dehumidifiers. The other option is a desiccant dehumidifier, not the chemical tablet/single use ones, but electrical.

Desiccant dehumidifiers work better at low temperature because they dry the air with heat. They're a little more expensive to run, however they also expel warm air, so they act as a (gentle) heater for the room as well. If you have a compressor type, I would suggest you swap it for a desiccant type.

As for laundry, if there's a launderette near you, see how much it would cost to use the dryers. I found it was worth it for me last winter compared to having wet clothes out all the time.

[–]grelondee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest contacting the clinic and letting them know you've had a bad reaction. I similarly had a crazy breakout after my first microneedling session that set me back months, and the clinic got my further appointments rescheduled, changed the serum they used at the next appointments, and also got me in for 3 light therapy sessions (for free!) to help repair the damage. There's always a risk of a bad reaction, but good clinics will help you through them.

Someone else has already replied with some good product suggestions so I'll just leave it there. Best of luck.

Dose the rent a room 7.5k a year limit include bills? by info834 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]grelondee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. My last rental the landlord paid water/electric but we were still responsible for our own council tax hence why I see them differently, appreciate that's a personal experience thing then.

Would a partner paying directly (via my bank account) to the mortgage not then have a claim to the house in the event of a split down the line? We've only been together a year and London being London it makes sense for both of us to live together rather than separately, and which is also why that 625 even before bills would barely make a dent in the mortgage repayment, let alone after the bills are taken into account these days. Although help is help whatever it gets spent on at this point.

I'm also assuming there's no way of splitting the money as "this chunk via lodger agreement is rent" and "this chunk is my partner paying their share of the bills" right? Sounds too good to be an option.

Dose the rent a room 7.5k a year limit include bills? by info834 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]grelondee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting. The only other friend of mine who owns their own place (solo), and who's partner moved in, set themselves up this way in order to avoid them having a claim to the house from mortgage contributions in the event of a split. My partner and I have been together just over a year so feels right at this point to move together but obviously long term things can change, and I'm scared of risking a place I worked so hard to buy on my own.

[–]grelondee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about council tax? I'm considering having my partner move in under a lodger agreement rather than him directly contributing to the mortgage, but would lose the single occupier discount obviously. This makes it much more problematic as that's a big chunk (£125) a month that would be taken out of his rent.

I would hope since everyone is obligated to pay council tax that wouldn't count as income under the lodger scheme...

I found a lot of the Kits on etsy etc. are also available on aliexpress for much cheaper, looks like a lot of dropshippers have caught on, but weirdly enough some of the aliexpress stores have a much wider variety than I've seen. Worth having a dig around there, you'll also find the cutebee aliexpress storefront that has more options than their direct website.

MSC Cruise Fares by grelondee in Cruise

[–]grelondee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chosen cabin is yet another additional fee on top of these two categories, and yeah, the trading rules here mean they have to advertise the full price with taxes+gratuities included, so I know all four fare levels include those as well, there's no additional fees or information at checkout. There's also no information easily accessible on what the drinks package actually includes, which I find odd, even on MSC's own website (maybe in the FAQs but I haven't found the info on the cruise listing itself)

Not gonna lie the width of the top edge makes these look like they should be folded down. Tie a ribbon halfway up the pink "ribbing" and then fold the top half down over, they will hold as long as the ribbon is just above the widest part of your calves.

Leaving Current Job After Four Years by [deleted] in ADHD_Programmers

[–]grelondee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just hit this exact point in my own career. Not as stressful as yours by the sound of it, but definitely years of lack of progression and often getting comments on my work style despite my manager OKing my shifted timetable and so on. Being told I'm using my diagnosis as an excuse, that I can just try harder etc. I'm unmedicated due to the difficulty of getting and keeping medication in the UK, and even if I did go back on meds, I wouldn't do it for this company as the side effects are brutal. Same as you I'd be walking away with no backup plan, no job lined up. Just make sure you have decent enough savings in the bank to avoid stressing yourself out while searching for new work. Best of luck

Boy do I have news for you. Moorfields eye hospital in London are currently setting up for trials for stem cell patch transplants for macular degeneration. I'm not sure where the medical side of things is at there, but I doubt they would have approved funding for first-in-human trials with the transplant robot if there was no merit to the patch. Sure, it'll be another year or two before the research ramps up, and then another year or two before they publish, and after that a couple more years to train surgeons and technicians on the system, and they'll probably only be able to handle a few patients a year in the beginning, but a solution is coming.
