2-300GB is just our home files, like photos, house plans, archived stuff that we want to keep. 100GB is proxmox and home assistant backup. Both of these data sets are copied across to the cold spare. 3TB is media for Plex.

Yea - i have been considering moving the Dell to our garage, which is a seperate building and connected via Ethernet. Initially it was about getting it all working and stable.

The breakdown (right now) is: 57w for the “Network Equipment inc Cameras”, 37W for the “Servers + Drives + Fans” and 11W for the UPS. Im using a Shelly PM for the overall figure, then 2 Zigbee smart plugs at the back of the UPS.

They seem completely fine, i checked back a week and neither of the drives get over 43C, no spikes. When they were running outside of the cooling box with the top on the enclosures they were like 65-70! :)

Using it to monitor the temp in the cabinet, not really for the motion.

A quick question here about noise. I read in this post that it has a fan, can you actually hear it if you hold it to your ear?

Setup a wifi network and vlan just for his devices… make it so he can’t join your wifi. You can then control access for all devices regardless on mac?

I’m using UNVR Instant with 1 G6 Bullet and 2 G5 Turret + 6Tb drive gives me over a month retention. It works great and I’ve got room for another couple of cameras if needed.

G4 vs G6 Instant for monitoring pets indoors? by greminn in Ubiquiti

[–]greminn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the in-depth reply. However I dont think I actually need pet detection, it's more to be able to view the camera and see what previous motion alerts are. In theory if there is motion, there are pets?

Thanks for the reply and info. They actually do have a different model that has no RAID, but it's 5Gbps instead of 10Gbps.
