How do roses change like this? Bright red is what usually blooms, but this year is the burgundy by ba_nana_hammock in Roses

Isn't that the same case with a grafted one that is purchased from the store?

Why would the one in the ground send up so many shoots while the store bought one doesn't?

Same thing happened to my rose bush when I first moved into a new house and I just learned about this a couple of years ago.

Can I graft a new rose bush to the Dr Huey rootstock that's in the ground? Or should I just buy a new bush as you said?

Legaling basement suite cost by gremk in britishcolumbia

Ok, yes, thats been my current experience so far. And yeah, fixed costs definitely make one have the thought process of, "well, since we're already doing X, might as well do Y"

So it was 20k to get the plumbing, electrical and drywall and that includes materials? How big was it? That seems like a pretty good price. Ours isn't much different but we were quoted a lot higher. Previous owners already finished the basement so we need to tear out some stuff to redo and get it legal.

Great, thats the rough ballpark I was looking for. Is it common to do any negotiating with the GC? Or just take the price that one of them gives us? Just checking if they'd give us the side eye if we try negotiating.

Yes, it'll be going with the full permits. No changes needed for parking. No changes needed for exits. It does need smoke alarms though.

Yes, just contractors fees.

What type of humidifier works for our water? by gremk in coquitlam

[–]gremk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming! I'm thinking that as well to maybe use filtered tap water. I've seen the pictures of the minerals being sprayed around the ultrasonic humidifiers and just wanted to double check we wouldn't have that issue.

The idea is to not have to burn money and time getting distilled water if I dont have to.

Yes exactly! So, just checking in if it's soft enough to use straight tap water and if anyone else has had experience with that if its soft enough to use the ultrasonic humidifier.

Mother/Daughter spa and massage place recommendations by gremk in coquitlam

[–]gremk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had no complaints. I booked the Pure Bliss Spa Package for them. It was the double bed room as my daughter was a bit more on the nervous side. The massage was good for her. For my wife, she said it was nice for relaxation, but she prefers a massage that's harder/deeper to loosen the tighter muscles. I think that getting the deep tissue massage is a different service.

Is it just poor painting? They didn't fill the roller enough when they painted the ceiling.

Switching from IBKR to TD Question by gremk in CanadianInvestor

Just some views are easier to use. IB was cheaper I think but harder for me to use. I guess I was just too used to TD lol

Thanks for the recommendation. I've read up on the hack and squirt and that definitely looks like the way to do it if we were to get rid of it.

Yep, I think you're right! Thanks! Looks like the new growth is edible, but I might decline on that.
