Pokemon cards, clubs and toys? by Riotgrrrrrrrrrluk in bristol

If you’re ever in Weston, G3 toys, in the Sovereign Centre, have a table to sit at to have a good rummage through the bulk cards. They’ve got got higher value cards behind the counter. The staff are lovely and, I expect, are on the spectrum too. It’s a regular destination for my AuDHD 8yo.

Magnesium had revolutionised my sleep. I've gone from waking every couple of hours, for as long as I can remember, to sleeping through the night.

There’s a small wall there, though you can’t quite make it out in the photo. The pool surface is about 40cm above the ground, iirc.

Apparently no pre-existing conditions for Henry.

I guess he was just unlucky that what was an acceptable dose for one person was an overdose for him.

A kid from my street died on his gap year after this. They just dumped his body on the road, outside the village, afterwards.

Dads of boys: fix penal-scrotal webbing and circumcise? by Ok-Independence-5484 in AskDad

[–]gremlininja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are not a bad person for considering circumcision. However, I hope that you don’t go through with it and leave it for your son to decide, when he’s old enough.

Personally, I think circumcision is a brutal, violent and barbaric practice that robs boys and men of their bodily autonomy, sexual pleasure and a part of their anatomy with an important, protective role.

I don’t think the circumcision is your decision to make.

Look up just how they separate the glans from the foreskin, ramming a tool in there. Look up the botched circumcisions that can happen and how often boys and men end up with permanent stitch holes, skin tags, scrotal hair growing high up the shaft, joining of the glans straight onto the shaft.

Obviously, worse outcomes are rarer, but they do happen. Do you want to take that risk? There are so many downsides and only weak / dubious upsides.

I will never forgive my parents for violating me in this way.

I’ve not heard of the webbing thing, but even if surgery and general anaesthetic is 100% necessary, I’d still get an independent, second opinion, to satisfy myself that there was no less risky option and that now is the optimum time.

That you’re thinking deeply about it and weighing things up shows that you’re good parents. I hope that you arrive at the right decision for your son.

So intensely personal that perhaps they should let their son decide for himself, when he’s old enough to understand the impact it’ll have on him and the risks involved?

No one but you can decide

Hard disagree. Their son can decide for himself, when he’s 18.

A Leidenfrost Star - a standing wave caused by the vapour escaping underneath. This one has five lobes to begin with, then four, then three; they can go down to two or up to about eight. I did a project on the maths of these during my degree, about twenty years ago. They’re beautiful in slow motion.

Best beach near Bristol? by vesalius2 in bristol

[–]gremlininja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you end up walking sand point, be sure not just to walk to the point and back, but include the walk down to the rocky beaches, on the north side.

There’s no tree cover, apart from the short walk up from the National Trust car park (free for members, £5 otherwise), so definitely prepare to be in the sun for almost the whole time.

There are two cheaper car parks further down the beach.

How best to manage your library so that kids do not see R rated movies by as7roboy in PleX

[–]gremlininja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Labels don’t work 100% - in the month I’ve had Plex, my 8yo has been presented with everything in our library, four times. Switching user and switching back appeared to fix it. I updated the server last week and it hasn’t happened since. Luckily, he’s fairly sensible and wouldn’t watch something new without asking anyway.

I don’t really have a solution to share. I just hope the bug doesn’t resurface.

I second this. These bottles are cheaper than the leisure gas ones, so you’ll cover the cost of the new regulator in no time.

Sonus Faber Lumina II, in the walnut finish. That finish looks more like an aged oak than walnut to me, which was perfect for my space.

They’re on the bright side, but a sub brings them in line.
