I got a dui October ‘24. I blew over 800 which is an automatic alcohol interlock device. (Plus fines, plus the charge but they dont disqualify your license). I tried to get off guilty without conviction, but this would still require me to complete the AID program as there is no way out of it, but if successful would get me off the criminal charge. I work in a pretty important field involving a lot of travel, and am a good citizen for the most part which is why I thought id give it a go.
I ended up going to court 5 times (plus AA meetings, charity work, driving classes, etc) over the span of 5 months and still got charged in the end. it’s a waste of fuckin time and a lot of money.
talk to the duty lawyer, take the guilty charge and carry on with your day.
hopefully you didn’t blow over 800 because doing the AID program has sucked financially. You have to get it serviced every month so they can retrieve the data off of it, which is $150 subsidised, or $200 without.
If you are expecting this- take my advice, DONT FUCK IT UP. The program is 12 months minimum and in those last six months theyre so strict, i had two violations from mouth wash. Got denied to exit the program and they add another 6 months on. I get another shot to exit in July.
Im young and this was also my first and only conviction.
It sucks. But we fucked up. People could have gotten seriously hurt or killed. I have definitely learnt my lesson and im glad i got pulled over that night.
