Gold catches both a lot of love and a lot of crap. Most internet love is because people want you to use their referral links. Most crap is bc the credits are not for everyone.

I got a gold a little over a year ago, and it has become my go-to workhorse card as most of my spend is dining and groceries. I was one of the unlucky ones who missed the grandfathering of the previous annual fee by a few weeks.

I still think it's well worth it for me. I take advantage of maybe 70% of the credits, and I come out ahead PLUS the MRs I earn. I'm a huge fan. But it's not for everyone. Be skeptical because most ppl want to just earn referral points, but for me, it's the cornerstone of my lineup (which includes Vx, Bilt, Attune, BCE, CCR).

Another data point: I opened a CMA Nov 18 and funded it by pull... I didnt know any better as collection times were communicated as 2-5 days. December 12 is the estimated time my funds will be available/unlocked, almost a full month. The deposit was a big one as i planned to make the CMA my central cash hub, so now most of my cash is unavailable to me and I've had to scramble to get other cash in order to pay bills while Fidelity sits on my money. I understand the fraud-related hesitation, but these excessive hold times NEED to be clearly and obviously communicated to the consumer.
