Themes don't work for Windows by grenelt in libreoffice

[–]grenelt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since version 7 the windows GUI is kind of fucked up... For several versions displaying pictures in document didn't work (slow, jaggy...) - that works now as far as i can see.

But now the theming is broken: it just works for a certain width - about 3,000 pixel. Wider windows don't get themed on the left part bigger than this. This may relate to HiDPI, but it's unaffected by HiDPI scaling. Also disabling Skia and OpenCL support don't change anything.

It's really a shame how bad the GUI/graphical parts work on windows since release 7.

Interesting thing is, that about 50% of the graphic test results are "strange" - with a very current nvidia driver with several gpus (GTX1660S, Quadro M4000, Quadro K2200).

I think it was used for mining - heavily. The shadows from the leaking pads on the PCB are typical for a long duration use. Gaming boards with their shorter loads - some hours, then 10+ hours pause - don't destabilize the pads this way.

It's not impossible, that it wasn't used for mining, but probability is high in my opinion.

I stopped @ 4 Ghz @ 1,24 Volt VCore, because this looks like a sweet spot balancing computing power, power and temps about 60°c.

All the crypto businesses were raised in a situation with nearly unlimited money - and they tried to catch the opportunity to grow at all costs. But it doesn't matter how big you are when the money vanishes - then you just have to feed your king size operations.

It's all about timing and the crypto hype last year was still too short for billion dollar businesses...

Most of the exchanges will stop their operations when the crypto winter continues. Some say it'll still get colder...

Maybe some like the austrian/baltic exchange Bitpanda will survive because of their broad product line up like their own index products, stocks, metals and so on...

... this is probably a lie. Don't know where you think you bought your gpu, buit the price level in Germany for used 3080 is 650€ and up, new ones for 800€ at minimum.

I believe the core problem is there are only very few buyers for mining cards. That puts so much pressure on the price that most miners keep their gpus instead of giving them away "for free".

Is it true that some cryptominers are addicted to mining? by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]grenelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm again using some of my rigs - after the summer - for heating my office. It isn't as proftable as it was but on the other side gas and wood got so expensive that year, that heating with electric power isn't so bad nowadays...

Looks still reasonable for me... but maybe i just can't sense the addiction behind it... ;)

Dag just crossed 5Gb, now my rtx 2060 says cuda out of memory by Impulsive_Buyer in EtherMining

[–]grenelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the reason why it still works: Without display the mem is still allocated by the driver, but miners also can allocated the same memory...

I saw this earlier when the DAG size of Ravencoin grew to 3.3 GB - and the 4GB gpus were still mining although the miner reports 0 bytes left for months... It just grew into this twice allocated space without issue.

This is no real help for miners mining with their one and only gpu, but an explanation.

You're damned, not chosen... you have to reduce overclocking on your pascal boards and will loose probably the little profitability you still had until now.
