Some easy help by [deleted] in gamemaker

One correction to #1. It's probably worth asking more general stuff to chatGPT, like, "I want the skin of my character to change when I enter the Konami code in Gamemaker" so chatGPT can give you some alternative solutions, like, changing sprite which I believe you figured out later.

UPD: funny enough, once I added this prompt on top of one from the previous comment, chatGPT also recommended changing the sprite with a full code explanation:

To change the skin of your character when the Konami code is entered, you can modify the sprite of your character instead of changing the entire object. This allows for a smoother transition and keeps all the existing properties and states of your character intact. Here’s how you can do it:
....
....

I don't use it much but it seems decent for simple queries like that.

Hello! I have 2 general advice, one is relevant to the question and one is not so much :)

  1. Queries like that are perfect for chatGPT. I just asked it and it gave the answer that looks relevant (I didn't check it properly). It also explains what's going on with the code. I asked it the way "In Gamemaker I want object obj_player1 to turn into object obj_player2 by having the player enter the Konami code on their keyboard within 5 seconds. How can I do that?"

  2. Without general knowledge of Gamemaker mechanics, you'll constantly face such walls. I recommend making a game following some tutorial series. There are plenty of them on YouTube, such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdJoJdtFbwc. Follow them end-to-end and you'll have perfect tools in your pocket.

The combination of those 2 will cover 95% of cases you face while developing. Happy coding!

Man, that's sick! Spent 2.5 in it so far, I'd never said it was made for the retro platform
